Stock 70 351C 4V 4sp 1/4 times?

This new engine I'm getting is basically a stock 351C 4V with 70 closed chamber heads (for now... it'll stay that way for as short a time as necessary)... I know it won't be a screamer, but what kind of times do these things usually run? I'm thinking high 14s, low 15s with around a 2.0 60ft. I've heard the engine was factory rated at 285hp (I know that's gross and not net), but how much torque did it have? I'm just trying to get ballpark here. Thanks guys!

what type of trans do you have? if an auto... and a well running 351c 4-v then i would think about 14.7-9. If a manual anywhere, depending on skill, in the 14.4-15.0 range. Is this engine really stock? have you replaced the exhaust? that is one of THE largest restrictions those old cars have. Open that up and you'll have one good running 351c (don't think it's gonna be a rocket, but it'll run GOOD). Think about replacing the cam with something mild and matching it with an intake matched parts almost always run best - ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN STOCK!! I can't emphasize that anymore!! Plus stock cams cost just as much as a performance cam and take just as much work to install.

MercDude,
Thanks... if you looked at my sig, it would answer your question. I'm running a toploader 4 speed. The engine isn't going to be staying stock long (I already have my planned mods that will push me easily over the 400hp mark - should be over 425 and close to 450hp.) The motor right now is a stock 4 bolt main 72 short block with 70 4V closed chamber heads. I will be reusing my hooker longtube headers with 2.5" straight pipes leading back to quiet mufflers and GT dual chrome tips for now. It'll get an H pipe and a couple of flowmaster delta flow 2 chambers eventually. I will also be running a full MSD ignition and holley blue fuel pump... I'm going to use the edel torker intake coming with the motor.... the only other intake I have is a performer 2V (bad port mismatch). Unfortunately, it'll be topped off with a holley 650 vac secondary carb for a while. I know plenty about cleveland performance. I was just wondering what kind of times a stock 285hp motor would run in a 69 stang as the old engine wasn't stock and was over the 285hp mark... just wondering how much SLOWER it will be. =)
