suspension kits: who's best?
 

Urethane? Poly? Midolyne? Who has the best kits at the best price? Any suggestions?

I got my suspension and steering parts from Mustang Plus a couple of years ago and have never regretted it. They are active in vintage racing and also build a fair number of restomods. I would get their catalog or visit their web site. My suspension for my '66 coupe is more like a road racing suspension (fairly firm and lowered some), but they have anything from pure track to pure stock and their stuff is of good quality for the buck. If you want specifics as to what I have, I'll be glad to oblige.

I've used the polygraphite bushings from PST in several vehicles and have had no trouble with them at all. I would recommend them.

I'm sure everyone has agonized over Ford's 'less than adequate' suspension system. If you don't already know about them, check out www.totalcontrolproducts.com/main.html . They have finally offered a comprehensive solutiion to the problems that plague all of us vintage Ford owners. I plan to do a Total Control coil over shock conversion on my 66 coupe. This is definately better better than what Ford originally offered. I might do some further modifications to Total Controls coil-over suspension; the brackets that hold the shocks and springs look a little weak (maybe its not a problem and if anyone out there can offer a more educated engineering perspective on them I would appreciate it). I hope this is helpful. I know Total Control's products are a little expensive but I think they're the solution to Ford's front end suspension.

I just did a 70 convert - used complete replacement kit from Canadian Mustang - hd fronts (I think about 660) & center eye rear springs, both lowered 1", front joints, arms & bushings. Used their Midolyne. Know of cars w/poly that rattle the whole car apart - go-cart ride - the Midolyne are firm but don't transmit near as much road shock. Real good to deal with, very competitive prices, great product. HIGHLY recommend the Midolyne.
