Question Swapping trans on a 68 need help

I have a 68 mustang that I am in the middle of switching engines from a 6 cyl to a 351 windsor. I switched the front hubs to 5 lug and switched the rear end. My car was originally a 6 cyl auto car and the windsor was originally an automaitc car. I'm interested in switching from an automatic to a straight drive. What transmission should I be looking to buy. Ive heard that I should be looking for a T5, while looking I came across a T-45, is there any difference in the two. Also I would like to know what else Im going to have to switch. THanks for any help you can give.

Michael

The T45 was used in mustangs after 95 when they went to the 4.6 motor.
I would say you could use it, but it would be harder and more expensive to find all necessary parts to go along with it.(bell housing, flywheel, etc.) I would stick with the T5. Try to find a worldclass. They sell out of summit brand new for $1100.00 You hear horror stories about the T5 all the time, about how they always break. I beleive most of the time, it's from people who don't take care of their cars, and/or have one that was built buy someone who didn't know what they were doing. I have a T-5 with the below mods and have put about 10,000 miles of pretty hard driving on it, including 2 trips to the track w/slicks. It's still fine. Sure if you dump your cluth from 5000 RPMS at every stop light, something will eventually break, but I think it is a good transmission. Do plenty of research before making your choice. There are other options especially if money isn't an issue. Good Luck
