11 ta 1, edlbrock heads, rpm cam, rpm package for that matter. i took a housing yanked the guts out and used that with a 16 lb cap and it worked. however my temp varied greatly. doing block again (another story), and have opted to use recovery system with say a 14lb cap. my question; what stat do some of you use ? summer temps are 80-90 here, altitude is 4500 above. have observed good performance at about 180-190. you're xp is appreciated.

I use a 180 in mine. Still runs about 200 in the summers here in Houston. About 100 in July and August ambient temp here.

Re: thermostat

I have a 160 in mine, not as hot as where REV is, but I do not drive it at all in the colder temps, so I can get away with that.

Re: thermostat

Real gauge, hee, hee. What I did was just use my stock gauge. I took the cap off and warmed my engine up without the cap. I had my wifes's candy thermometer in the radiator and noted the temp with my stock gauge in its usual hottest temp. That was about 200F for me.

I then very carefully washed and dried the candy thermometer and sneaked it back into the kitchen drawer where it stays. So far, I haven't been caught. Hope she doesn't read this post.
