Default Efi 289...

I want to fuel inject my 289. I have a limited knowlage of EFI( I own a 65 stang) A 5.0 kit should bolt on. I want to get the parts from a stock 5.0 but I need a list of all the parts I need. I need all of the manifold parts, wire harnesses, fuel sender, and computer. I need to know where the computer is located, how to get it out, and if there are any other parts needed. Thanks for the help...(and if anyone knows it doesn't work please tell me before I put all the money into it. )

Your best bet is a full donar car, but I would ask this question in the windsor forum. I have seen a couple of articles from time to time on doing this, but I can't remember the detials. So keep looking.

I know about a thimble-full in this regard but I can tell you that there are "speed density" and "mass air flow" systems (Ford makes both) and the MAF type is easier to install and tune. The "speed density" types are not as adaptable for use in other than its stock form. MAF is upgradeable. I think this also relates to the number of sensors needed.

Here's the gist of it as I know it. You need to graft fittings onto your exhaust system for oxygen sensors. The piece needed is sold by Windsor-Fox Engineering. The computer and MAF sensor come from the donor car as well as the upper and lower manifolds and injector hardware. A conversion harness is sold by Windsor-Fox to make life easier when hooking up components.

Fuel line has to be supply and return, so a return line has to be added. The usual way is to buy a fuel tank sensor fitted with both output and return line fittings. This saves you from having to modify the tank itself. An electric fuel pump is used. Your mechanical fuel pump is removed and blocked off.

The accelerator linkage has to be modified to cable operation from the current bell-crank affair.

The best deal is to hook up with a company specializing in doing this conversion such as Windsor-Fox. It may be a bit more expensive but its better than learning the hard way.

I have all the parts down to the fuel pump that I'm selling either for a mass air system or speed density. Also a t-5 conversion complete. Shoot me an email EFI_67_mustang@hotmail.com I'll even include wiring diagrams and instructions. Plus I've done the conversion so I can answers that may pop up while doing your conversion.

Cool

i would suggest that you take a different approach. while the stock ford efi system is good, you will have to either change the cam toa 351w profile, or change the injector firing order. you should also replace all the sensors that come with the system. what ia recomend is you contact edelbrock about their new efi system that is a bolt kit for the early fords. it is based off the victor jr intake and has its own throttle body. ford the same money you will spend swaping the ford system on you can get the edelbrock system, plus the bonus of all new parts and easy tunability.
