Default Tire size on lowered 68

Hi everyone,

After my Granada brake swap I am getting ready to order the new 15 inch rims and I am having trouble deciding on tire size. Does anyone know what will fit on a 68 coupe with 1 inch lowered springs and a Granada swap? I am looking at 15 x 7 rims(and maybe 15 x 8 rear) with 205-60/15 or maybe 225-60/15( but these are harder to find).

Any idea what will fit without rubbing?

On my lowered '66, I use 215/60/15's on the front and 235/60/15's on the rear. I did have to roll the rear fender well lips a little to avoid rubbing.

My '68's lowered with 1" lowering coils plus the shelby drop in front. I also did the granada disc brake swap. Not sure about the 15" rims, but I'm running 225-50-17's on 7" rims in front and 255-50-17's on
8" rims in back.

OK thanks to everyone that responded. I had her out today for her first long distance run since doing the drop and brake swap. My question is that one side seems to be lower then the other. I measures it and the drivers is a full inch lower then the passenger side. Everthing up front it new, A-Arms, Bushings, Coil Springs, Brakes, Rotors, Ball Joints, Spring seats, etc. The back measures level. What can cause this? The drivers side rubs under compression while turning but the passenger side is fine.

Any ideas on where to start to look? I really thought that new springs would have taken care of it. I measured both side A-Arms and they are equal distance off the ground but when you measure to the frame or fender well it is off by an inch.

Any help would be wonderful.

With completely new front suspension, springs, shocks, etc., etc., I had to remove 1/8 turn extra from the passenger side spring to get the ride height to be the same side to side. Actually, I did remove 1/4 turn from the passenger side and 1/8 turn from the driver's side in order to get the stance I wanted. If you do that, remove only the minimum at a time. Lots of work to assemble and disassemble to check ride heights, but it is necessary.

Maybe I missed this, but did you replace the rear springs? I had the exact same problem and replaced my rear leafs this spring, and the problem was fixed.

When I had them out, one leaf pack was noticeably stiffer the other.

No I didn't replace them just the front ones. Would the rear springs lower the frontend? I was thinking of putting a spacer above the coil spring on the front to level it.

Mine was sagging on both the front and rear of the same side. Since I had just replaced the front springs, it was a process of elimination for me. I have been told it is a fairly common thing for one leaf pack to sag more then the other.

That's exactly right. When you do the front suspension, you should do the rear suspension as well if at all possible. Even with new 5 leaf springs and new shocks, my rear ride height was off about 1/2" side to side. I corrected that by preloading the left side sway bar to get ithe ride height the same side to side.

Sorry guys I meant to give an update. SO it turned out to be a new power steering pump that was crying out in pain every time I turned the wheel.

As a side note, I also had to install the power steering cylinder lowering bracket. After lowering the car the ram started hitting the headers on compression.

I agree with the back, that is my next project.

Thanks for all of the help.
