I went to tire shop and they said that american racing said that 17 x 8 's whould not work on my 65 fastback .They said I would have to go w/ 17x7's . Have any of u put 17x8's on w/ no susp. mods?

Are you talking about on the front or rear? Ther are a few different backspacings available, which are you trying to fit? Mustangs Plus sells and uses a set of 17x8 on a few of their cars, but they won't tell me the exact dimensions of the one that does fit.

I would like to stay w/ the same size all around with out having to pay $300+ for a custom offset wheels

There are many companies that sell wheels individually and the torqs come in a lot of backspaces without having to pay extra. Going all the same lets you use the same tire and rotate them.

The ones Mustangs Plus sells are prt# 505-7867. They are 4.75" backspacing. I have them on my 66 coupe and I am lowered 1.5" all around. I run 234/45 tires in front and 245/45 in the rear. I did trim the lips because I drive agressively and wanted the extra clearance.
