1200 for a rebuild?? you can buy a nice c4 off jegs.com or summitracing.com for about 800 bucks. its a name brand i think they have TCI's and B&M's you'll have to get a torque convertor too but that still would = under 1200 bucks the B&M's also come with a mild shift kit already installed

I just sold a rebuilt AOD for $375.00. Had everything new, stage 1, bla bla bla.

If I had $1200.00 I could rebuild 3 or four more.

My advice. Get a good core, pick up the parts from someone that gets discount on them. Find a trans mechanic to do it on the side for $150.00. Thats the going rate here if you bring them the trans. Manual is more to rebuild.

Even if you can't do it yourself, you can still save massive money this route. Just ask around.

Default Locally?

I just got my C-4 rebuilt locally with high performance clutches and bands for $500. That included having to replace the clutch drum. The main problem was finding the parts. We finally converted to a 26 spline input shaft because no clutch drums were available for my 24 spline input shaft. That meant I had to convert my TCI Breakaway convertor to 26 spline. That cost an extra $100. I'm betting you can do a high performace rebuild locally for $500 if you look around a little.
