Post Transmission Linkage

Hi folks,
This is my first time posting. I picked up a 65 convertible from my cousin this weekend. He tells me there is a problem with the shifter linkage (4 speed toploader) and that I will occasionally have to crawl under the car to line them back up. He also says this is a common thing and an easy fix, if you know what you're doing (neither of us do). Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks.
Brian

Thanks, I'm planing to jack it up and pull the wheels off this weekend (they're kinda rusty). I'll see if I can get this taken care of then.
