Question Transmission Troubles

I have, or my kids have a 1966 coupe 6 cylinder with an automatic.
When park on a hill and in PARK the car move.
The Park does not seem to hold.
Everything else seems ok. It shifts ok and does not slip while in gear.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Cool

It sounds like your linkage needs to be adjusted. Get under the car (with something behind the wheels!) and find where the shifter linkage attaches te the transmission. Loosen the nut or bolt (it's been a while) and put that lever thing in park. Get someone inside the car to put the shifter in park. Reattach the shifter linkage. The only other thing I can think of is if the shifter itself if worn. Then it would be floping all over the place. Hope this helps.

Yeah it sounds like your linkage may be loose or out of adjustment. If the car is not fully in the park position it will roll. I had the same problem a couple of years ago and after I adjusted the linkage correctly it was fine.

This probably isn't it, but just in case -
if the trans has been apart, or it was that way when you got the car, it might have been apart and the parking pawl wasn't put back in or it was done incorrectly.
