Default Leaking trany

After I've removed and reinstalled the drive shaft my trany leaks at the entrance of the drive shaft in the transmission . In a cross view of a transmission I saw that there are oil sealrings inside and outside. I assume that the internal rings can only be changed by dismantling the transmission, is this true?? Is the seal on the outside a dust seal or is this also an oil seal?(Thus, by replacing this seal it could also be solved)

I have a '72 Grande with a FMX transmission.

The rear seal is an oil seal and replacing it should solve your problem. Sometimes the driveshaft yolk gets pitted and needs to be smoothed off with some fine grit sand paper/cloth where it meets the seal, so it does not tare up the seal.

I have the same probem with my fmx. neils is right about the rear seal being an oil seal. However once I got mine out I found our the internal shaft bushing was allowing so much shaft wobble that it wouldn't properly seal even with a new seal. But a new seal definately slowed it down.
