Value of a 1972 Mach 1 Called "Sports Roof"?
wondering if I could pick your brain on a 72 mach I’m looking into buying. I have some pictures I can send you if you do not mind. It’s a project car and seemed to run good and very little rust. The guy wants 2000.00 and it’s the “63D 2dr Sports Roof” what ever that means. It has the ugliest hood design I have ever seen. Not the 2 scoops like you see on most Mach 1’s. The vin is 2f02f226020 / 302 2v V8 automatic trans. Let me know if I can send you some pictures. I need to give this guy an answer in the morning.
Thanks for any info you can pass along. |

Thats probably a fair price for a Mach. If the floorboards arn't rusted out.
The 302 Mach would be the least valuble of the Mach's. Keep subtracting for things like: No Ram Air, 4 speed, A/C, power brakes/steering etc. Bad interior would lower it even more. Because if your going back to stock, it will cost you a fortune to fix. Also cracked glass or missing glass. Alot of little things will add up. But if its a project say like, "Resto Mod" and won't be put back into origanal shape. It should be worth it. Would be to me. |

I'm not sure about 72, but in 73, 63R is the mach1, not 63D. The "sports roof" is the fast back option (as opposed to the notchback or coupe). All mach1's have the sports roof, but not all sports roof cars are mach1's. Either way, 2000 doesn't seem too bad if it's not too rusty.
