valve adjustment question
Hi all,
new to the forum as was wondering if any of you could help. I have a 84 mustang with a 393 stroker I just purchased. It has a set of trick flow heads, solid lifter, roller (1.6 blue rockers). I know there are many ways of adjusting the valves, but is this right; start at #1 cylinder TDC combustion stroke both valves closed? Then work my way around the firing order? I have the valve lash specs from the cam info. The problem I am having is the #8 cylinder rockers are not drawing down far enough. I have also checked the rocker studs and they are in tight. Any help would be grateful. |

When you say they "are not drawing down far enough". Do you mean they are bottoming out on the stud??
It does have screw in studs?? The push rod isn't too short, is it?? Did you try and switch the rockers, pushrods, etc with another cylinder?? Is the stud smooth with no burrs, etc?? Are the lifters new?? Are you compressing them too much?? Hope this helps some..... |

Thanks for the reply gearhead. I should have been more descriptive. Yes they are scew in studs, no I have not tried the rockers on other cylinders yet. The pushrods are not to short and are not bent. No burrs or obstructions. It may be the lifters. This is going to sound stupid, but these are solid lifters, do they still compress?
