I'm with these guys, I wonder why you feel you need to dump the 8" rear. The only reason to need the 9" is for severe use. I've put several 8" rears through years of hard street use without any failures. Sure the 9" is much stronger, and gear selection is a lot better, but do you need those things? You can buy a set of new 3.55 or 3.80 gears and a TSD unit for the 8".
