Default Want to upgrade my 250 straight 6 to a 302

Help! I have a '69 with a 250 6-cylinder engine and would like to swap it with a 302 or 351. Any mechanics I request this of basically turn and run away(literally!). I am no wrench monkey but I do know that I would have to change motor mounts, brakes, ignition etc. What else would I need? I live in San Diego...anyone know any "brave" mechanics out there?!
