Default Best brand of water pump?

What's the best water pump for a stock 5.0 in a 90 GT and why?

The car is a daily driver w/ 112k miles and the stock pump is leaking and needs to be replaced. I'm also replacing the stock fan blade with a repoduction unit and the original 2 row radiator with a new 3 core. Sounds good?

FRPP M-8501-C50 ($49.95 +/-) is just fine unless you want an ultra high performance piece. Don't settle for something like a rebuilt one from Autozone, I got one to "tide me over" for about a week, it barely made it.

I got the brand new Autozone one for about $30 ( bout $5 more than the rebuilt one!!). It works just fine so far. No install issues. I would only get a rebuilt Iron pump, that aluminum casting is cheap enough, not worth getting the rebuilt one.

The Edelbrock Victor pump is built like a TANK! ...good pump, IMHO (got one for sale as a matter of fact. PM me for details).

No experience with Stewart...

I had a Stewart, wored great until the impeller(spelling?) decided to come off the shaft inside the waterpump, chewing up the whole inside of the pump, and digging about 1/10-1/8" groove inside the pump. I called Stewart, they told me to send it back to them, and they sent me a brand new one free of charge. The pump was about a year old when this happened. I still have the new one sitting out in the shed, kinda scared to put it back on. Just my $.02 worth.

The only problem with the Victor pump I have ran into is that they take a special gasket for the backing plate.
I was having a leak and tore into mine this last weekend and found this out the hard way. The gasket is not stocked in any stores or peformance shops it has the be ordered directly from Edelbrock. I called them this past Monday and they are shipping me a gasket for free, but this didn't do me much good since my car is a daily driver, its friday and its not here yet.

In the meanwhile i ordered a summit pump , it is supposed to flow 30% butter than stock it made it here in 3 days.

Good Luck
Rick Harris
