Post What determines a "special" Mustang?

I have heard of certain code/type Mustangs being better or more desirable than others(besides the obvious reasons of Cobra,etc.). Is there any truth to this-if so what should I be aware of when I decide how to restore my Stang? I would hate to find out that I have ruined something unique after-the-fact. Ultimatly I know that it IS mine to do with as I wish, I just want to do my mustang justice.
If the vin# or I.D. plate info is needed let me know. THANKS

This is very true. It usually revolves around preformance options and rarity issues. For 65-66 cars, K code engines are desirable and raise value substantially. You would not want to throw out one of these hi po engines. I see you have a 72 mach 1. Here is a bit of a clash. 72 was the rarest year and yet the least valuable because little info or parts are available for these cars. What would add to the value of one of these cars would include the 351 HO, Guage pack, and other rare options. If you intend to drive it, research what you have and find out if it is anything really special. If yes, at least preserve those parts. If no, enjoy the car and play with it a bit. I have a 72 Mach 1 as well. Mine came with nice interior options and the 2v 351, by no means a real treasure. I have upgraded the suspension to more modern standards and modified the engine for more fun but kept the car looking mostly stock. But the key is to research what you have first, then make a plan on what you want to do with the car, and above all, have fun and enjoy it.
