Default 1/4 ET and horse power estimates

Hello,

I have a 2001 Mustang Gt with the basic bolt ons.(Flowmaster 3 chamber exaust, Steeda X-pipe, timing adjuster, pullies, C and L mass air kit, 18 in wheels, springs, steeda front splitter, and Steeda rear wing) Im not sure if the body works will affect much in the 1/4 or not.

Anyway....curious what you think the 1/4 times will be and HP estimates.

Also I was thinking about getting a super charger. I was wondering what you thought about the Saleen root-type supercharger and the regular vortec supercharger.

One last thing, if I add a chip to my car without the supercharger how much will it help my 1/4 times and HP.

What are some other mods I could do to increase output or my car w/o voiding the warrenty? Headers?........

Sorry so long but I am dyeing to know the estimates of my car.

Thanks,

Bob

Default 1/4 mile estimates

I think maby 10 to 15 horsepower on the current mods. I dont think the chip will do much unless its an auto car, and then i still think it will only marginally improve the car. I think you can do headers and keep the warranty intack. Definately put in gears. 3.73, 4.10 either one. I.ll bet it'll lay down 13.9 like it is. Maby 13.7 or 13.6 with the gears and tires. I have gone 14.0 in a 2001 bone stock.

Thanx guys. And what kind of times do you think I would get with Slicks? If so what sizes for my car and how much would it cost?

Thanx,

Bob

Since I own one of the "Oldies" can't help you with the size, but expect to pay anywhere from $100.00 to $140.00 each. depending on size, and then you need to choose whether you want to run tubes or not. Tubes can set you back another $45.00 to $75.00 each.

You can run a big tire, like 26x11.5 slick or e.t. street, probaly too much if you dont get rear gears, i run a 26x 10.5 on an 8 inch wide rim (15x8) i have a foxbody though, with a gear ratio like you car came with, and it launches hard, as long as i dump the clutch at 5k lol, now the chip i would wait on until your done modding, after the supercharger install, make sure the chip is for s/c'd engines,
btw, i hear roots type blowers are no good, but thats just hear say....

A chip will help you a lot with your car. Unless something drastically changed between the 98s compared to your car (with the computer), your car would benefit a lot with the change in fuel curve and the other changes the chip would make possible. Your car should also run better as well.

Also, with roots blowers, it depends what your end goal is. As you may have heard, they make your engine feel like it is a big block. This is just because it makes it power so low. Other blowers make more power as RPMs raise.

I have heard roots blowers can be more fun to drive around town, but I know that they are less efficient and they also don't give the same gains in the higher RPMs.

Thanks,
DoranW
