Atmospheric=prformance? How much?
I'm just wondering how much atmospheric conditions should affect performance? I live right down near the coast of Texas and that means almost always somewhat humid and near sea level. Seems like ambient temp makes a lot of difference as to how my car performs at the drag strip. I realize that it affects eveyrone equally in a drag race.
It seems that I lose .5 seconds or more when I run at 90 deg F as apposed to 40 deg F. Is that reasonable or do I just need more work on air/fuel mix? Thanks for any insight on this. Rev |
Re: Atmospheric=prformance? How much?
I would lose alot of HP here in phoenix between summer and winter, .5 and 3-4mph. If you can find someone at the track with a portable weather station, ask them what the corrected altitude is, then use this to adjust to sea level
http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/misc/altitude.html Alot of times, hot and humid are the same as running at 5000+ ft altitude.. |
