![]() I have a 4 hole spacer about an inch thick on the car now and I`m going to the track tonight. I`m thinking about removing the spacer and seeing what happens.
Is it possable that the spacer is hurting performance? I`m also going to lower my shift points to 5500. trying to go 7`s ------------------ 85 mustang coupe with a 88 block,edelbrock 6022 aluminum heads,crane roller rockers,aluminum driveshaft,C-4 trans,3500 stall,3.73 gears,lakewood traction action liftbars with air bag in right rear spring,longtube headers,flowmasters, weiand stealth intake,600 holley, best e.t. 1/8 mile 8.01 best mph. 85.71 best 60 foot 1.72... |

![]() The spacer also acts like an insulator which keeps less heat from getting to the carb. Which keeps a more dense mixture in the carb.

![]() I've tried the spacer also. Car was more aggressive on top end and less on the bottom end. You will notice improved pedal response when you remove it. It all depends on what rpm you will launch at. below 3000--remove it, above leave it on. It will enhance your top end. Keep in mind some spacers are designed for torque only and some are designed to give you better top end. It depends on what you have. The thing that gets me is they do not say what type of intake they are designed for--dual or single plane. I pretty sure its single thats gets the torque advantage of the spacer.

![]() The spacer will not hurt your performance but will help. Your 4 hole spacer builds torque on the bottom end by increasing the velocity at low rpms which gives you a stronger fuel signal.
An open spacer without holes will hurt you a little bit on the bottom end but it will help at high rpm. If you are running a stock or near stock motor you should always run a 4 hole spacer. Spacers insulate the carb from heat and they also straighten out your fuel flow from the carb to the intake valve. Lee |
