![]() My engine builder has told me to hold off on going with lightweight pistons, as I am only shifting at 6800 RPM, his theory is untill you spin it over 7000, pistons don't matter, I see his point, but regardless they would help ANY motor spool up quicker, CHRIS, you guys run "fly's" on your dirt tracker?
Been on HIATUS, glad to be back, any changes in the last 4 months or so? ![]() Jay

![]() Ya know, I actually have no idea what our pistons weigh. I'll have to ask Jim and see. I know the whole rotating assembly is very finely balanced, but I never inquired about the piston weight. Good question!
Welcome back! Take care, ~Chris

![]() My opinion regarding the matter is that a lighter piston (like an ultralight JE) will actually help the motor rev quicker to your 6800rpm shift point... if everything else is up to the task, that is (the valve train for example). However, I cannot claim to be an experienced engine builder.... just sounds to me like your's is trying to save you a few bucks
![]() Unless you are going to run ultralight rockers, titanium locks/retainers, alum. flywheel, undercut valves, lighter rods, etc. I don't see where it would be absolutely necessary.... I DO know that ultralight pistons are NOT to be used with heavy doses of nitrous. ![]() Welcome back! |
