Formula T/A Goes Down!
Last night, coming back from a party, I had had a few beers, so my buddy was driving my stang...he can drive a 5-speed O.K. not really, really well though. Anyways, it was us two, and two girls in the back so that's a total of 4 people. (2+2=4) LOL Anyways, we were on a highway, when this red 96-98 Formula T/A rolls up next to us, looks over, then punches it...we were doing about 50-60mph and my friend punched it in 4th gear...I yelled at him to throw it into third, so he did and we instantly blew by that guy like he was standing still, we put about 5 car lengths on him. Then, a little further down the road, he was tailgating us, givin' it some gas, b/c his headlights were bounching up and down, so my friend threw it down into 3rd again, and put another 5-6 cars on him. My friend, who is a Chevy man said that he was embarassed to buy a Camaro after that...I was like..."you should be, they S-U-C-K. Anyways, that made my night and my friend's night, b/c he finally got to drive a car with some balls. Josh

Not to take away from your victory, but are you sure it wasn't a V6 dressed up? I've had plenty of them in my area try to race me, and it's just embarassing. Either way, good kill.

no, it wasn't a v6....it had the formula writing down on the door, and the dual exhaust w/ the notable v8 rumble....the v6's with the dual exhaust sound like **** ..this one had some spunk behind it. i can't drive for **** @ the track, but on the street, my car can take a lot of others. i know it is by no means the fastest, but it's got some nadz...josh

Well then let me extend the hand of victory!!!! I'm glad you didn't take offence to my prodding. I was just wondering if anyone else has the same problem as I do here. Anywho, good kill!! Thanks for posting it, I like to read about those pesky F-bodies getting their arses handed to them!!!

Bigwhitecobra, did you let off the gas when you hit that 13.4? Your mph just seems a little low. (no offense) Dont insult him with the V6 flag. LT1's arent too tough for a stock 5.0 with a few bolt ons. But a built 306 should have done exactly what he did. Great Kill. I especialy like how you told the Chevy man how Camaros suck.

Faststang, yeah, I know. I thought it was weird as hell, I had been running 13.5's all day when I pulled this one out. I was running 103 when I hit the 13.5 barrier. I guess I just launched weird or something. I do remember slipping the clutch alittle, maybe that's it, who knows?
I wasn't trying to take away his win, honest ! Those mph's do seem a little low, bigwhtcobra...my buddy has an engine built exactly like mine, only with a different camshaft, and he pulls 105mph in the quarter naturally aspirated. I have a feeling if you had some sticky arse tires, that you would be pullin' a lot more than that. Cobras are sweet, I love to run 'em. heheheh...especially since they think I'm stock, other than the ground shaking rumble of my exhaust! gggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sounds like your car is running pretty good. You know that 'Bird is good for 14.0's @ 100 at least.
Did he have any passengers? I know my car slows down alot with the added weight. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 12.0 @ 121 on radials S-trim Vortech sitting in a box! |

Never heard of having passengers on a track, but then again, I've never heard of alot of things. I did have a bit of wheel spin in second gear, maybe that accounts for the low mph?

Here, in St. Louis, @ Gateway International Raceway, you can have a passenger, as long as they have a Helmet on. I ran a '98 Cobra with 4.10 gears and some other **** done to it on the street one night, and pulled him dead even all the way through 3rd, into 4th gear, (started from a 15mph roll) with a passenger in my car and I talked to him afterwards and he said he runs 13.2 at the track, and 12.something with nitrous...needless to say, he wasn't spraying that night. Pretty cool guy though. I was proud of my car, but then again, I know racing on the street is different then at the track.

damn sounds like a strong combo you got there. lt1s still have pretty good top end. i ask the same question as exgm, did he have any passengers? i would have expected it to be a pretty close race if not!
good kill |
