Question windsor stroker computer question

I've been talking to a couple of different shops about how to control the 55# injectors need for my truck. It looks like there is 2 options and would like your input.

1) get the ford computer converted for low impedance injectors and then get a tuning chip burn for it cost is roughly $600

2) get a PMS for around $750

which one is recommended and do I really need to do this? The truck will be either a 383 or a 408.

thanks alot!

I think it's a good idea. You'll need something to control those big injectors at idle and start up. I'd vote for the PMS system. I've done a little homework on stand alone or piggyback EFI systems and it seems like a good unit.

i really like my PMS. i have a really mild combo and in a coulpe dyno runs, my tuner found 25hp and even more torque. i think youll need something for the pms to convert to low impedance, but its only 1 or 2 hundred(i believe, not sure, check it out) and i really think the infinite tuning possibilities are worth it. also, its not like a burnt chip, it can grow with your combo. thats just my two cents, hope it helps you out. nick

get the ford EPEC system. It is $1000 I think, and you wont need the add on like you do with the PMS. And it offers more than the PMS. You can use it with windows, and see all your fuel/timing curves, and make adjustments yourself. I think the PMS has some limitations that you wont have with the EPEC.

Better yet, e-mail my friend. he is building a 408 as we speak, and has done all the research into this subject. The info i gave you above is what i heard from him, but he will know more specifics. Ian at LightningN20@yahoo.com

Question

Thanks for the info.

Mach 1 I really would like to contact your friend and hear what he has to say about the computer as well as block strength and other 408 topics . However the email you listed doesn't work for me. Any other ideas?

thanks
