Post Is it me or car?? (long)

Well went to T&T again and dropped my shift points down to 4500 on first pass and them moved to 4700 for the rest of the runs (only made 4 passes) my times still aren't even close to what they should be if you go by the speed i am at. i run around 93-94

here's my 2 best runs, please help if u can i want the 14 second slip that i should be running

60'- 2.216 2.313
330'- 6.543 6.647
660'- 9.920 10.037
mph 73.83 71.46
1000' 12.871 12.940
1/4 15.285 15.320
mph 93.64 94.89
Last time i had shift lite at 5300 and a few people said that was too high so i dropped it to 46-4700 and still ran same speed and et's basicaly, is it my driving or soemthing with the car?? the weather both time was about the same 85 Degree's car was cool for all passes i would run and then let it sit for 30-45 minutes and push through the lanes till close then start it up to move and shut off when sitting. timing is set at 14 with spout out and i have k&n filter in stock box with no silencer and flowmaster muffers with h-pipe for power making mods.
could it be my clutch??? if it is slipping it would stink big time wouldn't it?? i don't know how old it is. Thats one thing the guy i bought it from didn't know. car has 67000 miles on it and weighs 3400 with me and half tank of gas.

It could be the clutch or it could be your driving. The clutch slipping seems to make sense because take a look at your MPH at 1/8 and 1/4 mile between both slips. You have a 2.5mph difference at the 1/8th, and at 1/4, then a 1.2mph difference in favor of the slower 1/8th on the other slip. So, your clutch maybe slipping, or else you could be making inconsistant shifts (I am not trying to rip up your driving style because I don't know how you drive of course.)
With that MPH closing in on 95, that should be good for about mid 14's on street tires.
Your 1/8th mile times should be quicker too, so whatever it is, its happening throughout the whole 1/4 mile.
Ohh yeah, I would be shifting somewhere over 5000rpm. Even though its past your "peak" power, 4500-4700 is just too low.

I doubt that it is your clutch cause your 60ft is pretty decent. If your clutch is gonna slip its gonna do it when your dumping it. I would shift at 5000, It could be your driving but i dont know."i am not trying to criticize" do what i do launch at about 3500 and then shift at 5000 you may be holding the clutch too long between shifts allowing your rpm's to fall out of your power band between shifts. Drive it like you stole it

Are you running 14* with the spout out??? If you are running without it, that is not good as your timing is not advancing past 14*.
To help you out, here is a copy of a timeslip I made in my dad's 91GT. It was 100% stock except for 14* timing and ripped out air silencer. Maybe you can compare this to yours and see where you're gaining time.
60'-2.217
330-6.113
1/8-9.407
mph-74.47
1000-12.223
1/4-14.601
mph-94.63

Are you spinning on the 1-2 shift? Your car looks like it is slowing between the 1-2 shift as your 60's look good, but your 330 is slow. Your clutch will slip more on the top end than it will out of the hole, the tires turn easier in the lower gears, but it takes more force in the upper mph range to turn the tires, that is when the clutch will slip more, but normally if it does, your MPH would be lower too.

BTW- I shifted the car at 5200rpms. Shifting at 5200 in both my 95GT and my dad's 91 resulted in the best ET's.

Best ET: 13.83
Best MPH: 98.55mph with Best 60': 1.91 on Nitto DR's

Red face

I take the spout out and set timing at 14 then put it back in. when i first went i had shift lite at 5300 and someone told me that was way too much so thats why i dropped it to 4600-4700 next time I go I am gonna try around 5000-5100 and see what that gets me, most likely it is my driving that is the cause of my slow times!! first gear rev's out so quick and i must be shifting slow there and loosing my time there, i need to work on that and that will help me more than anything else. have to be able to drive first!!

killercanary: in my time slips my 60' times, 1/8 and quarter mph are almost exactly the same as your dad car but the times are much different.

appreciate the advice guys!
