need help with gear selection

I am looking to get into low to mid 10's with a high ratio so I can get a good launch. I now have 4.10's and am crossing the traps at about 116mph at 62-6400 rpm in fourth gear with my tremec. Now I have some good heads on the way with more boost from my vortech so the 4.10's are way to high.
I looked at the gear finder on some tech sites and 3.55's and 3.73's put me where I wanted to be, but the 3.73's will give me the better launch and the 3.55's will allow me to use some more of the engins tork down the strip. My motor is built up for mid to top end
(cam#'s 6.66 258@.50 heads flow 300 on the intake and 235 on the exhaust) what do you think should go in the rear?

I'm sure the blower guys could give you better advice but I'll take a stab at it. For 10's you're looking at MPH in the range of 126 to 136. If you've got the capability to spin the motor high, then the 3.73's would be the ticket. But if you're still running long-runner intake and shifting below 6500 then I'd go with the 3.55's. They may not hit as hard as the 3.73's, but you should be able to overcome that fact with the monster torque and hp you'll be making across the entire rpm. You ought to jump over to funford.com and as the same question out of the blower guys in the Renegade class. They've probably been there and had to face the same decisions.

I think I will give the 3.55's a try and put my car on a huge diet. My car is a 79 hatch and I heard that they only weigh like 2900lbs from the factory. If I strip it of everything that I don't need including the heater this thing should fly.

I had the 3:55 in my car and with a 4000stall, my car slowed down over foot brakeing it at 2200. I make more torque down low so I switched to 3:73's. Most of the renegade guys run 3:73's and a 28" tire.
