Default What is the BEST 1/4 Time for a STOCK 1991 GT

I went onto www.car-stats.com to see what a STOCK 1991 GT would run in the 1/4 mile and 0-60. It says that the 1/4 is 15.6 and the 0-60 is 7.3.... Is this right? Sounds kinda low to me. What is the best runs you all have got out of a STOCK 1990 - 1993 Mustang GT.

I've got a 1990 LX V8 with a 5 speed and I can get 15.2s out of her with cheap rubber on it.

Your car looks pretty bad with that looooooowwwwww stance. makes a set of 18's look like 22's. How do you like the T1-S's I can't believe how good the wet traction is, before with my Nitto 550's I couldn't look at the gas pedal while turning in the rain, now I forget that I'm supposed to be "careful" in the rain. I just drive normal and they stick to the wet pavement.

Thanks LX, I love the tires expect for the fact that they WEAR way to fast! I have had them on for like 13K miles and there just about gone, and I take it easy on them as well...

15s??? My old 91 lx did 14.3 stock. The one I own now, a 93 lx did 14.5 stock. Then with a little adjustment of the timing, new cap, rotor, and plugs, it ran a 14.017 STOCK.

Well, now I have a Kenne Bell bower in there, but have not had it at the track yet.

You can do wonders with the early 90s Mustangs.

my 90 lx did the 1/4 in 14.4 @96 mph seconds completely original , no tuning , no tweeking , no weight reduction at all(still had spare tire and jack in back) and still had air silencer in it with 2.73 gears and timing untouched (at 10 degrees) with my stock 15 rims and 225/60/r15 tires (2.35 was my best 60 ft) , with some tuning , a little weight reduction (100 lbs.) and a set of ford motorsport 3.55 gears i ran a 13.8 @ 99 mph (2.0 60 ft) with 255/50/r16 ultra z cheap tires from pep boys. i put on some equal length shortie headers and a set of underdrive pulleys and i went 13.6 @100 . then i added a zex 100 hp kit and went 12.7 @ 110 still with same tires weighing in at 3200 lbs. with me in the car at the track .

There are a lot of factors to consider when talking about e.t.'s Weather, barometric pressure, altitude, track condition, driver, etc... all play a factor in the cars performance. Up where I live, there were alcohol funny cars that could only pull off 8.5 - 9 sec e.t.'s due to a virgin track and slightly higher altitude. These cars should have been in the low 6 to high 5 second range. So if your car runs 15's stock, it doesn't necessarily mean its slow.

it also has a lot to do with the transmission, 2.73's + (stock) AOD=no bottom end. my car went 15.60's completely stock. five speed cars are usually about .5 to .75 seconds quicker in the quarter

My 88 GT went 14.66@95 bone stock, then with timing adjustment 3.55's and MT 26 X 8.5's it went 13.87@101 with a 1.878 60 ft, but then again the speed density cars always seem to run better than the mass air cars. I once read in an article of MM&FF April 97 issue I think, the mass air cars run a fatter fuel mixture of about 13.3:1, where as a speed density car runs leaner of about 14.0:1, so if you can get a bone stock mass air car to run in the 14's that's awesome

Elapsed Time = How long it takes to get from the start line/light to the finish line. There is a board at the finish line that shows "ET" (like 14.59, 13.75, 10.35, 8.50 etc...) and MPH.

Default Rice Rocket Haters

You know I bleed ford oval blue from my veins.....

I am rebuilding my 358 Windsor as we speak. It is time to hit low 13's for me, so the warm cam comes out and a hotter cam goes in.

Now for rice rockets, you guys are too funny. My second car is a 95 Civic 5 speed with a 1.6 liter VTEC engine. I get 44 miles per gallon running a sustained 65 mph. Driving around town, the combined mileage is 38 miles per gallon.

The Civic accelerates 0 to 60 in 8.5 seconds and finishes the quarter in 15.4 seconds. That is roughly what my 66 C code Mustang ran when it was stock. It got 17 miles per gallon back in 1966.

My buddy has a Civic hatchback with a 1.8 liter VTEC. He runs 12.40 ets. All he has is a better intake, headers, larger exhaust, bigger cams, and a chipset. About 1400 dollars of parts, and an engine from an Acura Integra and he is running 12.4 ets.

I hope you feel foolish out there, those that hate Rice Burners. I love blowing them away with my Mustang. It is fun. But there are rice burners out there running 10's and 11's while you are struggling in the 13's.

Maybe you should respect the engineering. Reving my VTEC to 8,000 RPM is a blast-absolutely addicting. Getting 38 miles per gallon is awesome. The car handles fine, is about the same size as my 66. It is much more aerodynamic, and weighs under 2,700 lbs.

Have fun, be safe, and remember that we are all out there to have fun, create some polution, and get a rush that only comes from acceleration.
