Igloo Coolers
I have some questions about the Igloo coolers.
#1. Were the Vortech Igloo coolers banned @ Atlanta? #2. If a person was to have an Igloo cooler with the resevoir in front of the firewall, is it legal? #3. If a person builds a rear firwall would it be legal? #4. Was this done by NHRA or FFW? #5. Will Igloo's be illegal @ the rest of the FFW events? #6. Will they be illegal just at NHRA events? #7. I am going to Norwalk, will I see Igloo's legal there(because it is IHRA)? Thank you, Matthew Thompson |

I will try to address your questions in order.
1. Igloo type coolers were permitted at Atlanta. 2. At this time, all resevoirs must be in front of the firewall (at NHRA facilities). 3. No. They are describing the engine firewall. 4. This is an NHRA restriction (page 181 of their rulebook under Ballast. 5. We are working with NHRA to change the above restrictions. For now, the restrictions stand at NHRA tracks. 6. Yes. 7. IHRA tracks do not have the restrictions regarding the reservoir, so they will be legal at Norwalk, etc. We had the track manager at Atlanta on the phone with NHRA headquarters on Friday, but even he could not change the ruling, at least for now. Stay tuned for Houston. |
