Nmra/nhra
Ok, I figured I'd post here. Im moving my battery to the rear of the car (88GT) But Im not sure if I'm allowed to mount the battery box where the spare once was. and the Nitros bottle next to the cage. Im not sure if the rules state that the battery has to be above the frame. But, some people have said that. Im basically trying to save my self from buying a 90 dollar sheet of 3/16 diamond plate.
And yes, battery box is vented (moroso blue box) Ill be racing in quick ford class and depending on what times I get and how the rules apply to a carbed 347 (auto trans and hoosier pro drag dot tires)with or without juice maybe other classes too. Oh, forgot, Its not a notch back (trunk) its a hatch back, glass window. Thats why I bought the vented box Last edited by Oldschoolpony; 06-19-2002 at 12:44 AM.. |

I don't have my rulebook handy so I can't look it up. You could try calling your local NHRA track and ask their tech inspector or swing by your local speedshop/track and pick up a copy of the rulebook. The rulebook is about $10.
I don't recall anything about 'above the frame', so I won't say for sure. I do know that the rules specifically say that if the battery is relocated from the stock position you're required to install a master cutoff switch...even if you only move the battery to another position underneath the hood.

Ill ask at Gainsville(gator national speedway) when I get the car running for weds. test n tune. I do have the master switch, going to out that next to the tag. None of the speed shops here seem to know, pretty sorry huh? lol. Theyre all roundy round shops (outlaw, sprint ect.) And when I call the track, i get the operations number and they say techs only in when track is open for racing.
