400 engine
Does anyone know how well a ford 400 would work for drag racing? cuz I was thinking bout putting one in my stang. Some ppl tell me it ain't worth it, but others tell me its a good engine and if I put 351M heads on it, then the engine should go good, but I would still like a few more opinions, so anyones would be appreciated, thnx

400?
The 400 is a good torque motor and can turn up some if done right but would probly be too expensive to make fast as a 302 or 351. Ive got one in my Bronco and it runs really good for a 4x4 with all the goodies in it so far. They just werent made for high rpms and are a little heavy for racing. I would rethink putting it in a stang, better off shelving it for something else and use something that can be stuffed in with relative ease like a 460

You might want to look at www.fordmuscle.com and check out the posts on the 400 CI motor in tech talk. There are some that believe the 400 can spin high and produce a lot of power if done right.
