Cool T/S expertise

Hey Jeff, I e-mailed Porkchop, he responded once, with a who is this? e-mail. Check me out I not anything to worry about. I am just looking to improve myself. I think that I am going to switch to the cam that you fellas are running. But my big question to all of you is this. What electronics do yall run? Mass air, Speed density, Custom chips?

There are some that still run stock ignition, but most have gone to a CD ignition such as MSD, ACCEL or Jacobs. I'm not sure that they really give any HP advantage, but the increased spark energy is nice especially if you've increased the compression ratio significantly. A custom burned chip is OK, but really doesn't gain us NA guys a whole lot; usually less than 5HP.

I can't think of anyone right off the bat that is speed density. Everyone is Mass Air which lets us go with larger MAS, injectors, etc.

Thanks, I do have the MSD6A and Coil Do you think I should go to Mass AIR. Also how much are your heads shaved. And finally what would you do next in my package.

You'll have to make some changes in your setup. Any head used in T/S must have the OEM sized valve for that head. You're 1.94/1.60's would have to go. The long tubes would also have to go...shorty headers only. The battery will also have to come back up from. The 4.30's could be hurting you also since you've got to turn a little over six grand through the traps to hit 110mph. This is past the peak of the HP curve for a long runner intake motor. Increase your injector size though; you're probably hitting 100% duty cycle around 4400rpm with the HP your making. That should be good to gain back at least a little of the HP you'll be loosing by making the changes above.

Jeff, I'm sitting here laughing. I envey you guys. I cannot go racing with yall. I ask the same questions again. I am only trying to better my performance, And luckily I don't have to follow the "RULES" Thanks for the effort. And Please ansewer again with out the T/S limitations. If you were in my car what would you do. I do have in mind to get 4.10s the 4.30s were free and my 3.55s were getting noisy. (.020--.060) on the heads???????

Shaving the heads a little wouldn't hurt. The stock compression ratio is so low that anything you can pick up is worth the effort. Head milling is pretty cheap assuming you don't get carried away and have to start angle-milling, fly-cutting or machining the intake.

Definitely spring for some larger injectors. This is where the Mass Air system would benefit you. More tuning options IMHO. You could upgrade the MAS and injectors. Pro-M has a sweet new 80mm unit.

Also, you don't say what you've done for exhaust. If you've still got the cats on your H-pipe, dump 'em. Go 2 1/2" all the way back through some free-flowing mufflers. I prefer the Flowmaster 2-chambers.

Shed weight in the beast wherever you can and stiffen the chassis with some weld-in subframe connectors. If you're running on slicks often, then bullet-proof the rearend with cap studs, a girdle and some Moser axles w/ long studs.

Ahhhhh. So much to do, so little time and money.

I have cut a 1.59 60ft, would I benifit with an E-303 or the crane 214/220 .483/.498 112 ? And should I get the 4.10s, I do have 24# injectors in the shed, if you think the mass air will help I can get the computer and harness for $100.00, What meter?

Try the new plastic Pro-M 80mm mass air meter. We haven't had a problem with them yet. Just my 2 cents.

I'll second that. What a purty piece it is! I haven't had a chance to use mine yet (snow you know) but if it works half as good as it looks like it should then its a killer piece. I've never had a single problem with a Pro-M meter and I'm on my third one.

Joe I am sure that you are using a 4.10 gear also? Did you do any work to the GT-Ps or are they box stock. I don't have to worry about rules like you all do. I do want to stay with an iron head. Would I do better with the GT-Ps or a DART jr? And either way I go what is a fair price to pay for professional porting. Also if ANY of you T/S guys come up with 2nd hand goodies to sell let me know if they are not allready promised away? Thanks allways Jason

Yes I am using 4.10 gears. My heads were gasket matched per T/S rules. Seeing as you don't have to abide by these rules, I would go with a set of Dart's myself. Ron at Fox Lake, in Ohio, has been porting heads and intakes for our shop, IDLE Wild Racing, for a while now and has been doing great work for us. I would give him a call and see what he can do for you. We have also use Powered By Ford in Orlando, FL. on occasion. Hope this helps you out some.

Yes the 12.80 run was at about 3320. But that was with my old stock GT-40 heads and un-gasketmatched lower.I also didn't have my windage tray installed, and had a HUGE vacuum leak that was making the car run very lean. It wasn't till I went to replace my GT-40's with my new GT-40P's that I found the lower intake to be warped.

Idle Wild racing? Largo, FL? I had a really good friend that went there all the time to get things for his car. He had a 93GT auto...you guys converted it to a Tremec installed an intake etc... I think he said Dan was the guy he always talked to. Very nicely run place.

I said it once, and I'll say it again. Either send me a plane ticket, or load it up on the trailer and get it down here. I don't think we have too much work at the shop the week before Bradenton, so if it comes down to it, come down a few days early and we'll get it together.
