TRACTION
Ok, hoping for some help in the traction device arena.
who has tried what? what works/doesn't work? i'm running 26x8.5 slick no front sway bar torque arm stock control arms factory original shocks ------------------ 90 LX, LOTS OF EXPENSIVE TOYS, FRESHLY REBUILT THIS WINTER, RAN 13.10'S LAST SUMMER, LOOKING FOR 12.80'S THIS YEAR. THAT'S WITH AN AOD, DAILY DRIVEN PonyPower 1990 Mustang LX |
The stock control arms are a real limitation. The rubber bushings are way too compliant. Get rid of them and use something like the Megabite Jrs or Factory Five arms. You don't say what gear you're running, but with the AOD I'd hope its at least a 4.10, preferrably a 4.30. You should be able to get your short time down between 1.60 and 1.70 with the 26x8.5 slick.

I would look at your pinion snubber. If you are hitting it, remove it. I picked up .04 in my 60ft time by doing this. I like the southside lowers.
------------------ 302,vortech s trim @18-20lbs showing,edelbrock performer heads-o ringed,gt 40 upper&lower, mac 1 5/8"long tubes, sub frame connectors,50/50 rear, 70/30 front, manual rack,3:55 gears, c4 , best time 10.13@135mph |
I use the Factory five http://factoryfive.com Upper/Lower combination (greasable, poly, tubular) and Slot Car Racing http://www.slotcarracing.com lower control arm brakets to lower the rear control arm for increased anti-squat. No quad shocks, no snubber, no wheel hop. I do use a rear sway bar. No 60' times, but my 3 & 4th gear tire spin went away.
