I don't forsee changes for next year however there has been some discussion about minimum weight. What do you think about going down 100 lbs.? Use name & permanent number, please.

Think dropping the weight down to 3200 and allowing some bowl work done to the heads as long as they retain the stock valves would be a good addition.

I think the current weight is okay. I am having to strip my 95 Cobra to get as close as possible to 3300. I don't think I could get near 3200 though.

Yes,I think that would be a great idea.My LX coupe only weighs 3175 w/a full tank.I have to add weight to be legal. T/S #71 12.83@105

You and I have already had this conversation, but I'll repeat it for the benefit of those tuned in to this discussion.

Most of the current T/S racers would like to see the minimum weight rule returned to the 3100# level. The 3300# weight has required almost everyone to add significant weight to their cars. This largest result of this has been broken equipment. Of the top ten racers, at least 5 have gone through transmissions this year, myself included. There has also been a rash of 'burnt' clutches. This can be attributed at least in part to the increased weight. The goal of getting more SN95 cars involved in the class just hasn't materialized, probably due to the large payouts available in the Mod Motor class. I really think it'd be beneficial to lower the weight back down to 3100#...we'd see the cars pick up a little and we'd spare ourselves some expensive parts.

I think lowering the minimum weight to 3100-3200 is a great idea. I also agree with the previous response that cleaning up the valve pocket and ports (not porting just polishing out the uneven casting areas) should be legal, just because all the castings are not created perfectly equal. So in response yes I think a few rules changes would be a good thing.

I have talked to Jeff, Larry, Bruce, Kevin, John, Porkchop, and everyone else that I can't remember about the weight factor and we all agreed that losing at least 100 if not 200 pounds would be a great idea.If the cars were lighter they would be faster and less prone to breakage. My car weighs 3025 with a full tank of gas and me in it. I have to add close to 300 pounds just to make weight. I feel that the weight reduction would benefit just about every one in the class. Contrary to popular belief you can get an SN-95 down in weight. It just depends if you want to take the time and spend the money.

I guess it is tough to argue with these people, especially since they have raced. I find it tough to get my Cobra down to the 3300# weight. But, I haven't been able to finish getting all the parts to make it out to any of the events, whereas the above have. Getting an SN-95 to weight is not difficult, but is expensive. I'd like to see the 3300# weight stay, but can't argue too much if it goes. It may force me to decide to not race, but then again, the above have good points.

I haven't been able to make any races this year so I aven't had to worry about adding the weight yet but I would need to add 175lbs. since I am at 3125 with me in car, and prefer not to. 3200 would not be hard. I figure a full tank of gas and maybe a little in the hatch and I could reach that. As for the rest of the rules I think they should remain the same. Hope to see everyone in Dallas.
