Default turning the 4 into an 8?

well, i found the perfect condition mustang convertable within the price range i wanted, 800 dollars got it , and i replaced the top for an additional 750 { cost almost as much as the car}.
But now the car needs something else, it is sleek, and small, it is an 88 mustang lx, i am a pure fan { believe it or not } of the 76 mustangs. But i now have found that the 4 cylinder is just not enough { don't know why ford put a 4 cylinder in a convertable it hurts thinkin about it .} so here it is, the 4 is coming out to make way for a 5.0 , any suggestions ?
