Went to Fun Ford Event today!

...& if you have never been to one of these....GET TO ONE!! It was awesome! Great racing, tons of vendors, awesome cars. While standing next to the fence separating the track from the stands, I saw a car rip past me doing 185MPH(looked & sounded like a jet flying by!!!), then from the stands watched another Pro 5.0 car run 6.xx 1/4 at 210 mph! Great steet cars there too, running from mid 10's to mid 15's(some people just spun waaaaay too much!). Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow, so I won't be able to go to day #2. I can't wait for Fun Ford in Gainesville this summer. If you have one going on near you, GO! You'll be so glad you did! Later!

Yes, they're great events. Unfortunately, yesterday's event was cancelled after the first round when Steve Grebeck's and Bill Rimmer's Pro 5.0 cars collided at near full speed. Steve lost his life in the accident. Though I can't say that I knew Steve on a first name basis, when you see these guys week in and week out, only a few pit spaces away, they all become part of the Fun Ford Family. Steve will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, his competitors and the rest of the Ford racing community. We all know its dangerous when we roll out of the waterbox, but it really strikes close to home when something like this happens. Everyone needs to remember that safety comes first when you roll out onto that track. Even with a super-safe car like those in Pro 5.0, the worst can and will happen unless we give the track and sport the respect that it deserves.

God Speed Steve Grebeck.

..I was floored when I watched it on the news last night after work. My stomach still hurts thinking about Steve, his family, & the other driver. as safe as the cars are now, we still need to be as careful as possible every time out there....take it easy guys & we'll chat later!
