'03 Cobra at the track...WOW
Son of a gun, what a bad boy. Guy had one at the track this weekend with a whopping 1300 miles. This thing was running 12.60's all evening at a bad track. Also, it was one of the quietest cars at the track by far.
I believe all he had was a K&N, and a different pulley. That's all that he said anyway. I was impressed!

A different pully is worth quite a few ponies. So he might of ran a 13.0 stock.
What is considered a bad track. Mine is at 2800ft with a launch pad like a skating rink. It seems like everyone is the 13's for the most part "stock" What was his MPH. I guess it is the best deal going for 40k. Later,

I can't wait until one or two show up at our track. I went up last week and the rice was everywhere. When I was signing up, a kid that worked there said "I'm glad you showed up. There are only two other Mustangs here" And this was from a 13 yr old kid.
I can't believe that guy had 1300 miles on it already!! You know he's having a blast

Distance above sea level was over 4000 according to my weather station with 40% humidity, I know my times were off. He was running street tires also.
Unfortunately I didn't get to talk to him as I was racing myself.

If your talking the Lightning pulley(seems like the popular mod), then he's running around 12#'s of boost. I think it should run decent with 4#'s more boost than factory. 12#'s of boost and mid 12's? The guy needs some slicks.

Altitude does affect the performance of Roots type blowers. Although I cant quantify it, there is a difference. My Regal has the M90, little brother to the M112 in the Lightning and Cobra, and I travel from home (2750 ft) to about sea level every day, and there is a noticable difference in the seat dyno.

excuses. excuses. i do agree mags will hype it up to sell products, but maybe the last issue was correct? i say with an experience driver, slicks, basic bolt ons (EX and Filter) the car will do low 12's. who cares what the regular Vette does. lets compare it to a Z06 for shitz and giggles. you see, people are starting to compare them to vettes. must mean something. yeah, i will wait for "actual" times that are not from a mag. dont make excuses. it fastest production Mustang to date that can keep up with Vettes. now for that Z06........

If "Aquaman" is pathetic running a 12.6 with 340 RWHP. Then the cobra must really be lame to you, the dude probably had over 400RWHP.
Later,

You guys have to rememeber. The 03' will benefit greatly from intake/exhaust/pulley mods. Its factory supercharged. It is so damn choked from the factory. Ever hear how quiet they are? Wayyyy quieter than the noisy FBods. With those mods it will drop at least a second in time and possibly up to 80+HP. Look at the all the modded Lightnings. Only time will tell....

Umm.....The car did have a pulley. I remember before the car came out everyone said how it would own the Z06.
So far its on par with the lightly modded LS1's. I am not impressed yet. Its just a matter of time before someone that can drive buys one, then we will see. Later,

Now feel doesn't mean much I understand that but he races alot and has a pretty good idea what he's running (estimated 11.4's in the Vip and got 11.3's) and he's a hell of a driver. The 03 has all the ability in the world (save for a little weight) to be a great car. right now they are just not hitting their potential. |

Give it time...people were running some pretty disapointing numbers with the LS1s when they first came too. Oh and 20 RWHP is impressive for just a K&N.
