Default 1/16 mile...

Alright, I'm pretty sure that this is correct, In the area there's a oval track lengenthed out a bit for 2 straights. I'm pretty sure someone told me before it's about 1/16 mile. Not sure...maybe it's an 1/8...but I have no sense of memory or am able to determine distances Alright, well anyways my friend has a '88 Monte SS compeltely moded with a 400sb and many other goodies. He was running at best...a 5.78 in that length. And There was a mustang there that was running 5.69. My question is if this is a 1/16 mile track, what kinda times (if there's anyway of converting it) would he be running in the 1/4? One of my other friends said he'd prolly be running low to mid 13's. Oh yeah, he was hitting about ...80-87 mph? If i can remeber correctly, although I'll hafto ask him. I know I have no chance of beating this kid, as he can pull away from me any time he wants against my 5.0. Although, If i dumped $10k into my engine alone..I think i could run him. Any ideas on what kinda times those would calculate into?

I think they don't time from a standing start they get a few laps warmup first then they time. 5.78@87m.p.h you said he ran, correct?? it's probly an 1/8 mile oval track. you can't compare that to a 1/4 mile drag race.

Oh, it's from a standstill. I've been there before. They got a tree, the stage, and I can't remeber what elseIt's an oval track...But they use the straight section as the 1/8. I asked my friend, and yes it is an 1/8. I'm pretty sure he was running around 85 mph. Couldn't that be converted into 1/4 mile times?

Multiply the 1/8th mile time by 1.56 and that will be the 1/4 mile time.

Later,

I went to the analyzer and put in the numbers you gave me and it said it would work out to a 9.12@109 mph.
