Default 1989 Saleen vs. 2003 Cobra + Video

Well I met up with 46stang today with his new 03 cobra. I have to say its a killer car! Man that things nicee!

My cars been running good, better than when I ran a 12.3 at the track definatly.

We lined em up for a race, I ran on slicks, he had his street tires.

I gave him the go, and we launched. I still didn't have good traction on the slicks and spun them just a tad into 2nd gear. My car got loose in the rear in 2nd gear as you can see on the video. I dont think I had enough pressure in the slicks.

In 3rd I was about a 3/4 to 1 car ahead (I think) and my car just died! You can hear it in the video, my motor just shuts off. And 46stand pulled past me. This was happening to me at the track as well. We later figure out I had some MSD wires shorting! So it wasn't the greatest race. We'll get a better one at the track later.

Im sure Leon can throw in his 2 cents as well...

Cool vid. Your camera man seems like he has a hard time keeping the camera straight though. It's good to see your car is finally running the way it should. What mods have you done to it since I last talked to you(been a while)

yea he gave me all most a car roll on the start as well, but let me say he took it back real quick with his slicks and then some! I'm sure he would beat me at the track as his car is quick and he gets the power to the ground! it was fun! he was a little ahead of me and then i went right past him when his car died. I can tell you i missed 2nd and 4th gear shifting! wasn't either of our best races but funI can't drive and his car acted up! at least i know i should be able to get a 12 sec. timeslip now as we all know sky's car is a consistant 12 sec car we'll definately have to go to carlsbad sky and get another video!!

46stang - Very nice Cobra! A couple of easy mods and I bet you hit over 400 HP at the wheels!

Let us know as soon as you get some track times in it.

Again, very sweet.

Sky - did you get your wire shorting issue fixed yet?

Good race sky. I can't wait to see a race between you two when all of the problems are worked out. It should be good. And I agree with LX5liter. I thnk the cameraman needs a cup of coffee

Yeah the Camera man sucked, also his hand was over the microphone as you can hear the muffled sound!

Steeda, I have since put on the holley intake and 1.7 rockers, which hurt my low-end but did help out top. If I got a cam that revved higher I think my car would run a lot better, as of right now it does off at 5700rpm.

The damn slicks just dont hook that good on the street, you can see I spun em into 2nd gear.

Did you ever do any suspension upgrades yet? I remember the last time we talked you said you were still stock.

Yeah Ive got a 8 point cage, 70/30's up front 50/50's in the back and eibach drag launch springs. The car gets mid 1.6 60foots now.

I was surprized to keep up w/ the 425rwhp cobra, but we will get a good run next time and see what happens!

You guys gotta let me know when you are hitting Carlsbad. I'd love to see that race in person. You may even suffer the wrath of the stock '97. I know you're scared of it Skyman.

Something tells me racing there can't be good for the crop. Is that an Avacado grove up there?

Get that electrical sorted out, and give us another video when the cameraman isn't having a seizure.

Cool

Sky & 46stang: Nice run! I had to watch it 3 times with my almost-2-year-old-son Zack watching & saying "bye-bye cars" at the end of the video. Makes a dad proud!
Sky, I had the same problem with wires shorting last time out at the track, since have fixed with new wires & finally got some separators, so hope to get some better times next time at the track as well.
Make sure to post when you guys run at the track!
Later!

Sean

Skyler I will say U are Frequent on the street racing scene I am always in the archives reading up on some racing U have been in, and nothing is better than actual vids, we do some street racing here in Indiana as well, just my opinion but I think an incar Vid is better than from behind, U can tell who is pulling on who and it just makes for a better vid, maybe next time try it out! Catch ya later! Trey P.S> looks like your car is running better than ever, my E and 1.7's also sign off at around 5500 -5600 but overall I am happy with my E!
