Exclamation 1996 Cobra vs 2002 Z06

Now this was a very short race.

My friend, his sister, and I were going to his step-mom's work to get an excuse for his sister. On the way there, on HWY 80, we saw a vette. He was in the turn lane so I sped up to get next to him. I rev my engine and he pulls back onto HWY 80. As I had passed him I realized that not only was in over my head taking on a Corvette, I had made the mistake of reving at a new Z06. I slowed down to 35 MPH and he pulls up to my back fender. I drop the clutch and jump on the gas. My tires made a quick bark and I thought I was doing pretty good. Then I remembered I was TRYING to race a ZO6. All of a sudden I see the ZO6 fly past me. I am still in 2nd gear. After he pulled 3 cars on me by 70 MPH I let off the gas. Mainly b/c of the truck that pulled on to HWY 80. THe vette kept going.
My friend said as the ZO6 passed us, he was looking over with a smirk on his face. Now I knew those cars where fast. I have downloaded the videos, but to actually be able to see that in person was awesome.

ive been trying to read all of these posts and I came up with a question for you... or a couple... well first, is your car fast? what mods does it have. second are you a good driver. It seems that you are loosing alot of races but maybe its just me. What is your win/lose percentage.

Smile me

My car is fast but of late all I seem to find are cars ALOT faster than me. I have won about 70% of my races, mainly to other Mustangs. I have 3.73s, underdrives, and subframe connectors. I just now got new tires. That car has had the same tires on it since the car was taken off the lot in '96. I am MUCH faster. I no longer fishtail speed shifting into 2nd and I can accelerate in 1st much better. So now I am looking for some GM and hoefully win them.

There's no shame in losing to a Z06. They have more hp and are a LOT lighter. Get a blower and kick his butt

120 mph from a ZO6 with only tires?? He would have to be putting about 425 horsepower to the wheels to trap that speed.

The few ZO6's i've seen at the track run in the mid 12's between 112-114. I even have video of me kicking the crap out of a black '02.

Too bad I can't transfer it from my camcorder to my computer.

$49,000 FOR A NEW Z06 AROUND HERE, that is not cheap by any means but far from 65,000 -70,000 dollars.

Chevy claims the 02 Z06 at 12.4@116mph.

I personally witnessed a the 385hp version Z06 run 11.70@118+ with ET streets and a aftrmarket airbox so I would think that the new ones with good air could see near 120 in the 1/4 stock.with a couple of bolt on's there is no doubt they would see 120+ in the 1/4 mile. these cars are beasts right off the showroom floor!

I raced one a while back on my old motor, and only beat him by 2-3 cars to abou 120 on Turner. Fast cars. But on the contradicting side, I saw one run a 13.6@109 at the track, as well as a 93 Viper running a 13.2@113
