Default turbo for a 94 gt

I'm looking to get eventually get a turbo, try and make my way into the 400-500hp range. What parts on my car can handle that power, and what needs to be replaced? Also, I'll be doing a gear swap first, what should I run, 3.55's 3.73's? It's a summer car, and my last mustang had 3.73's, which didn't really bother me for daily driving.

to handle 400-500hp your gonna need a good bottom end, aftermarket cam, heads, intake, bigger maf, throttle body, headers, exhaust, definately gears (3.73), bigger fuel system, aftermarket ignition system..and of course the turbo.

Your T5 and clutch probably won't last very long either.

Cool

Turbo.... My favorite of all power adders. I am also planning a turbo in the near future. You may want to hold up on the gear change. You need to make positive choices about the turbo. Your gearing my be right already. I would go to turbomustangs.com ask questions. I have been reading post there for a while. They are sharp on this stuff and willling to help, just like all of us here. Good luck with your project and many low time slips to ya.

I put a post up on turbomustangs.com, they said 3.73's shouldn't be a problem because i'm keeping o/d and not planning on making too much power. So now it's more of a debate whether I'd like 3.55's or 3.73's for something I drive all summer.
Eric, besides the fuel system is any of that required, or just things to bring out the full potential of a turbo?

oh yes is definately required. You can't just put a turbo on a stock 5.0 and expect it to run like a bat out of hell. You gotta add the extra ingredients to really make it sweet.

If this is going to be a daily driver, IF you do gears (which I am not sure you will want to), I would go less agressive than 3.73!

I would go like 3.55 or maybe 3.27. Turbos don't like gears as much as superchargers or other power adders.

Thanks,
DoranW

I have to do gears anyways(they need to be replaced) and I plan on that being the mod to tie over my need for speed till I can get a turbo. Shifting so much can get annoying(my old stang had 3.73's), so I may just end up with 3.55's. I've got a lot of time to think about it.
Eric, I understand that. I do plan on upgrading those componenets, but I don't think I can afford all of that right after buying a turbo kit. Just wondered if the stock parts could handle that much hp while I saved up some more money. Also, I heard the stock cam is set up fairly well for a turbo setup.

Default Single turbo kit

I have a 85 mustang with carbd motor.

if i want to put on a single turbo kit i know i need different headers what would i do with the other header if it does not go into the turbo? would that one just be free flowing straight into the h pipe?

and is there any way i could install this without taking off my fenders and my front clip?

i plan on taking a turbo from a t bird turbo coupe. ( dont want to spend that much money )

Tony You have to run the exhaust from both sides through the turbo, kinda like a Y pipe.

Check out this link. This is currently the only single turbo kit available for Z06's and C5's. Yeah, yeah, I know its not a stang, but everyone at that shop has at least one Mustang.

They custom built that kit (starting from scratch) for the Z06 in less than a month. I know one of the guys there has a single turbo kit for a fox body, for sale if anyone is interested. They definately know what they are doing.

Andy

ok i see now, thanks for that post. now would my stock motor hold up to this power?

i have only 16,000 original miles, so its still strong, i dont want to add more than 150 hp. what type of turbo would i use. would a turbo from a t bird work or would that give me more than 150?
