Smile I'm excited

After having my 4.10 gears sitting on the floor for over a year and a half, I finally will be getting them installed in the GT next Mon. At the same time, I will be putting in a Mac CAI, 70mm Throttle Body, and a custom tuned JMS chip. My question is, I'm sure I will notice a difference, but do you think I will see: 10-15 rwhp from the CAI, TB, and chip, and an overall 4-5 tenth gain in my ET? When I ran it once at the track, in 90 degree weather, right after making the 80mile drive to the track, I ran a crappy 14.5 @ 96.6 with a 2.3 60'. I think if I had stayed, practiced, and lowered my 60' I could've pulled a 14.0-1.

Do you think my car could run a 13.6-7 with these new mods? Thanks.

My buddy picked up 3-4 1/10th's w/ just 4:10's. You will definately feel a difference w/them. When I had mine installed, I was driving it and wondered when it was gonna shift into 3rd. It was already there . The other mods wont make a seat of the pants-o-meter go off, but the gears will. Have fun! John

As for the HP that you will pick Up i would say know more than 10HP At the Fly wheel But will feel like alot more with the gears on there.

Really??? You guys don't think I'll see more than 10hp gain? I'm definitely not one to believe the ads, and I feel like I know my stuff when it comes to stangs. Now, mac claims 8hp from the CAI and 7-10 from the Throttle body. I know those numbers are high for sure, but I was thinking like:
(at the crank)
5 from the CAI
3 from the T.B
7-10 from the chip (cause it will bump timing, and correct for my mods)

That's why I was thinking more like 15??

Oh well, either way, I'm sure the gears will have a big effect. I'll let everyone know what my SOTP thinks. Thanks guys.

Edit/update:

I cancelled the order on the Mac CAI, and instead ordered a C&L 80mm MAF, CAI.

Ordering the bigger mass air was definately a good idea, but you really need a sticky tire to get your combo into the 13's a 2.3 60ft will make it very tough to get into the 13's, just adding DR's and the gear would do more for your ET probably give you a 13.7 or so.

Yeah-you can't believe the ads,otherwise,for 7-800 hundred bucks would have a 500hp motor

Almost all tests are done on modified motors unless otherwise specified...

as in the previous posts, your biggest gains will be driving talent, gears and sticky tires...if you can drop that temp on the motor before running and stick a 1.90 sixty with the 410s you will have your goal...

remember-driving technique is everything..I know guys with SC'ers launching consistent 1.9-1.95 on street tires...practice..and until you compete-don't worry about the light or the guy next door-its your race.

Thanks, that's solid advice. When I get my tax refund, I'm using it on Upper and Lower Control arms and drag radials to help those new 4.10's hook! Take it easy.

Are the gears for the 200GT?

If so,the 410s should really wake up that sleeping giant.I have seen guys putting 430s in with the automactics....410s will be nice and leave some nice driving conditions on the hiway...I am not well versed in the newer cars as mine is a Fox but you may want to check with others in know on your car about gears and if there is anything to be concerned about as far as computer(they calibrate speed electronically),and the trans-like would a shift kit(usually always does )help...

good luck

Andy:

Yes, the gears are for the GT. (I think I'm gonna go with 3.73's on the Snake) When I put the 4.10s in, I'm having a custom chip burned to compensate for the speedo change. At the same time, the chip will bump my timing and raise shift points.

StoplightWarrior:
Good call on the gears...I wish now that I would have gone with the 3.73's for my 5-speed instead of the 3.55's I have in there now. Definately practice launching all day long! There are guys at the track here that have 2000 GTs running 14.0's with no problem with 2.1 60' times & very few mods, if any. ( A couple of them had said that they ran 13.7-13.8 with just their pullies, gears, & exhaust, but never seemed to be able to do it when I'm there.) Trust me, I know about BAD 60' times, & I need practice at the track launching & some sticky tires so I can post some respectable times soon. Good luck & definately let us know how you run with your new mods! Later!

Not stopping till I have my auto GT into the 12's I'd settle for a 12.99!! Just get me in there!!
