Default 2001 BMW 330....$2500 vs. $35,000+

I was driving this last saturday night home from a friend's house and on the main straight road that goes 10 miles to my house a red BMW pulled up next to me and took off. I kind of knew that it'd do that because it was hauling to catch up to me up a large hill off the freeway. Anyway, i dropped a gear when it was about back bumper to my front and i pulled about 4 or so car lengths AHEAD of it by the time i shut down at 100mph. We started at about 35mph so it didn't last too long. I could hear it and it had LOUD exhaust. Anyways, we went 2 more times a couple of minutes apart (i'd slow down and they'd catch up just above the speed limit and try a head to head start). Same results each time.
Here's the funny part:
This person i raced is the neighbor accross the street that lives on top of a hill (weird road system). they followed me into the neighbor hood where we live and he blinked his high beams and i pulled over so we could talk. Him and his friend were like, "damn, you got a supercharger?" I was grinning ear to ear i said, "no, you wanna see my engine?" He took a look at it and we talked for a few minutes and him and his friend (which appeared to not know much about cars) said pointing at my intake manifold, "that's where the power is from" which in reality it's only a small piece
So anyway, apparently this is a BRAND NEW 2001 BMW 330 and he had it for a few months and already had "intake, and exhaust work", and he was shocked that i said my car was an '89 with 120,000 miles. He asked if i had about "like, 300 horsepower" and i just said "sure". I'm going to drag at Pacific raceways on wednesday so i guess i'll see just how fast my car is.
But that was definately a fun race and made me happy to have a cheap, fast car!
