2004-2005 Camaro 350 H.P!!!
I personaly think that the Camaro vs Mustang is healthy for us the inthusiast. When both companys battle we again the inthusiast get faster and better quality cars.
I really dont hink that the Mustang would of goten this fast if it wasent for the Camaro!! I was reading an article on the new Cobra. At the end of the article the author said that "The new camaro 2004 or 2005 will have 350 H.P so Ford should not think the war is over''. I think he is right because when i went to the 2002 car show here in L.A a Chevy representative said to a small crowd (About 8 people) that was bitching about the death of the Camaro that the Camaro/Fierbird will be back with a 6.3 litter v8 and he claimed 350 H.P. Maybe im wrong but i really think that the Z and the TA will be back.

You're correct, The Camaro/TA is dead for only a few years. The rivalry is the best thing you can have for a great HP race and quality cars. Without the rivalry there would be NO GT's or Cobra's I bet. In late 2004 GM plans on bringing back the " Z28 " and not the camaro V6. Not sure if the TA will come back, they never sold enough of them. Engine and body style will change so look for GM to take a few lessons from the Mustang. A little higher seating, shorter body style, and compete price wise with the GT/Cobra. All this will keep the stang improving!!

What a blunder by GM. They already have one supercar, trying to make another is just stupid. They should either plan on competing, or leave the car dead.

I dont hold much faith in the early reports I've heard about the Camaro. There's so many of them, and they vary greatly, and there all from "Credible" sources.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens to it. I'd rather have new, fresh challengers. Such as the new GTO, the new Charger, and the soon to be Mustang based Cougar. I mean, I'm always up for the F-Bod vs Stang thing, but throw some new things in also. |

Interesting....
I was under the impression that the Camaro was dead for good. Knowing GM they'll probably reintroduce the Camaro as a front driver with a hopped up V6 or in line 4 of some type to go after the rice boy market. Just a guess. I've read that it just isn't cost effective for GM to keep producing a rear drive car like the F Body Camaro when all of their other vehicles with the exception of the Vette (which is produced in a totally different plant bthan their other cars) and their truck/SUV division are front drivers. The law enforcment community even screamed a few years back for GM to produce the Impala as a rear driver and GM wouldn't budge.

The Corvette lost a lot of money for a LONG time. That's why GM was intent on killing the model. They decided to continue production of the car because of brand recognition in my opinion, and I'd be suprised if they make much profit on the Vette today. There is no possible way the Camaro would make a profit in the scenerio mentioned above.

If it weren't for Mustang, Camaro would never have been built, let alone many other "pony cars".

I do not think and personally hope the Z28 does not come back,Mustang sales will continue to be above average, great in my opinion, and the Mustang was around for 3 years before the Camaro,GM is still catching up trying to figure out how the blue oval boys did it,hopefully this new 03 Cobra hoping it makes production will drive the nail in the coffin of the vette

I'd like to she is return and with a strong power plant.
I believe in the healthy competition concept. Either way we'll find out soon enough. |

Disappointment
Well, I'm sure the camaro and firebird or possibly just the camaro will come back as sedan with a 3.8 v6 with a new revised wide track just like gm did to the monte carlo and the stupid impala. Why gm likes to do this is with their muscle cars is beyond me . Admit it you guys will miss having the GM competition . Its like a love hate relationship . Who are you guys going to battle with now? Civics and eclipses ?

Several reports given by GM stated they were going to bring back the fallen Fbody Camaro. But for the Firebird, I'm sure its dead for good.
But even if they re-introduced the Camaro, like they did with the Impala and Monte Carlo, I don't think Ford has to worry about losing market share to GM since, after all, the Mustang is the American icon. It doesn't make sense to have 2 super cars; one being the '2005 Camaro or plain Z28' and the Z06. Wouldn't that go into eachother's market space and cause some confliction? |

Thunderbird is in a different class.
The Corvette and Ls1 Camaros are in a similar class, since both are high powered sports cars. Though the Tbird is powerful, its more of a luxury cruiser. I haven't met anyone on the island that races their Tbird. |

most people dont race their vettes either. in a sense its almost a luxury sports car. lots of people buy them just to cruise around or cuz theyve wanted one since they were a kid or something. its probably the same thing with the thunderbird
