Anyone see the thread on the Viper site, where a viper owner got a new 2003 cobra, put in some octane boost, drag radials, and removed 150lbs and went 12.3@118?

I think sedanman just raced a 2003 Cobra at the track. Unfortunately, I think the guy went high 13's @ 104 - what a dill hole! :D

Z06 is faster, but with $600 worth of mods the cobra will toast it.
Ford finally came through. The last generations of cobras were compared to comaro SS's. But now they are being compared to vettes, Z06 vettes, M3's, etc. Great bang for the buck. another interesting tidbit of knowledge. MM&FF dyno tested it in the newest issue (August). It had 381 RWHP, BUT, they removed the air silencer and it went up to 394 at the wheels. Ford had to put it on so the cobra would pass niose regulations. thats 13 free horses. Just think what a set of pulleys will do.:D |
Not ALL Z06's run low 12's just like not ALL 03 Cobras will run mid 12's.
It comes down to driver. There are some driver's in Z06's running high 13's cuz they don't know what the hell they are doing. Same with the 03 Cobra. With equal drivers (stock vs stock) the Z06 wins. There's no comparison. Dump a couple hundred bucks in the Cobra and yeah maybe it will win. But dump a couple hundred in the Z06 (DR's and intake) and I take the Z06 again. The Z06 costs 15k more but it is a superior car in straight-line performance, handling, interior, etc.... Anyway, the 03 Cobra is going to be one bad @$$ ride! I can't wait to see them run at the track! |
