Hmmm
My first brand new car was a 1972 340 Duster, mine was an automatic with 323 gears. I am really a reformed Chrysler attic. He is going to whip your *****. He is not stock to make a claim to kill mustangs. You are stock, he will kill you. As a betting man, I am willing to bet the boat on the duster. Plus, the duster wieghts no more than a mustang gt.
The race will go like this: he will holeshot and you will never see him again. I wish you all the luck in the world, you will need it. |

Wow
I am sorry that you took my post as anything but humor, you must be new to the streetracing world. I did not say that your car sucks, I said it was stock, which is what you said.
In the streetracing game, you need a sense of humor, or you are not going to have very much fun. If you want to meet me and kick my butt, I hope you are talking about my car, anything esle is a no win situation for both of us. ;) If the truth hurts do not ask. If I hurt your feeling, I will send you a hug. :p |
340 dusters usually come in around 3300lbs so they are a lightweight (even though they don't look it) and you can fit a pretty wide tire on 'em. The 340 loves to rev and even chrysler literature braged about their ability to rev past 6 g's so a well built motor could be a handful. Plus, my GF wouldn't be able to tell anyone much about my car either, so until you talk to the owner, all bets are off.
Get a 150 hp dry shot for your car and then it'll be a lot more fun. |

Skyman's closer and his car's quicker, borrow his :) With my latest tweeks to my combo, it'll hopefully go 12's.

well, i'm an old mopar man too.
but, your average, run of the mill street duster with a small block is a mid 14's car. now i said average, so dont attack me. i have seen a few as well that are stormers, but they are the exception. i think that it will probably come down to traction and driver ability.
i had a 70 dart with a mild 440 a few years back, i caused a lot of late model performance cars to tuck tail and run. but again, cars that really perform on the street are not common. now all of you folks on the board probably are pretty savvy about tuning and dialing in a carb car, your average joe is not. cant tell you how many hot sounding cars that i have seen that cant "run out of a shower of rain". this guy may be an awesome mechanic and tuner, but odds are that he is not. just my 2 cents:) |
Actually, I was wrong with my previous post. The 70 Duster my uncle has ran 14.3 on street tires, was bone stock except for the tranny, and still had the 3.23 gears. I am sorry. And the car ran that with anyone who would race it. So, Mid 14's is correct, but I HIGHLY doubt that the car is stock.

yelowjaket,
Get some nitrous. |
:p factory stock 340's through 71 were rated at 275hp. the few 340 sixpacks were a little higher, but the 4bbl cars actually ran better.
|
STOCK? Hmmm, Maybe I'll bring my stock 11sec. coupe down there for a go!

Be positive. Get your gear together. the vht, the tires, Cut that fan loose. by pass the smog pump, pull the spare tire and jack out. Find a real slick, no traction spot to race. Use the vht and good tires and , know the place your going to lead him to. Practice on it a few times with the vht and good tires and you will have an advantage. He would have to be reeeal fast to overcome that. I raced one of those kit cobras one time. He was supose to be SO fast. I did not want to lose. I chose a real slick spot to race from. I practiced for 3 hours out there before i called him out. I dont know if his car is faster or not, but i smoked his tire spinning butt
