89 GT vs. 00 SS
I met up with a good buddy of mine last night who has a 00 Camaro SS 6-speed. Ever since he got it, he's been talking trash saying how Ford's are junk and how he could walk all over me. Well, last night we lined them up three times and I won all three times!!!
First run: We go from a stop. He gives me the jump (for obvious reasons), I hook thanks to the DR's and am gone. Hit second and he's about two cars back. Hit third and he's still there but he's coming up on me. Hit fourth and he's at my back bumper. I ran fourth out and shifted into fifth when he finally caught me. I was doing 110+ mph so I know we ran more than a quarter mile. Second run: We go from a second gear roll. He gives me the jump again. I hit it with a little bark from the tires and am off. I hit third, fourth, then fifth when he finally blows by me. We were doing 100+ again. Third run: We go from a stop again. I take off first and hook as usual. By second I have my usual two cars, by third he's coming, by fourth he's at my back bumper, shift into fifth and he passes me pretty quickly. Now, his best run was a 13.64 but he's usually in the 13.7-8 range. I haven't run my car yet but I thought it might be good for a 13.9. We are going to try and film our races one time because he's a really good match for me. He's all stock with 5600 miles and a 6-speed. My mods are in my sig. And I know he wasn't toying with me because we were racing to see who was going to buy beers! And I could hear him chirp second and third everytime.

The reason I say that I won is because at the 1/4 mile mark, I was ahead of him. If we actually ran a true 1/4 mile, We might have similar times but his mph would be alot higher than mine. It's amazing how much top end those LS1's have.

That illustrates why one cannot really translate 1/8 mile times into 1/4 mile times. So many factors (i.e. coefficient of drag) go into actual occurences that equating 660' into 1320' times is not really very meaningful.

Good kills, to my surprise, last week at the track i walked a 98-00 6spd t/a, i out drove him bad, and tree'd him bad, but usually the a4's start walking me after the 1/8 these 6spds couldnt? i was loving it, i ran 13.9 at 98 mph, he ran 14.0 at 100mph, it was very hot and humid, i cut a 1.9 60' to his 2.1, i think i had more experience, but i could really say i can smoke SOME ls1's
then after that, i sat back with a beer, and watched mike murrillo make a low few 8 second passes even getting smoke from the tires halftrack....

They're very strong up top. Most of us can't hang after 110. Don't worry, at te track you'll never be shifting into 5th!

Yea 1bad, a friend of mine has a black 00 ss, with a converter, 373 grs, headers, stock axles, dyno'd 311 rwhp, and runs 12.0s @115, but cuts 1.6's, and sometimes puts air between the tires and ground, not much hp, but he has a good combo, and puts it to the ground with hoosier slicks, its all in the converter for him i think.

Yea, your looking at a 3.35 1st gr in the stang, and a 2.7?? 1st in the f-bod, the mustang is usually out of the hole first in this scenario, however i hear of a stroker ls1 using a jericho 4spd, i bet thats pretty quick outta the hole.
