Default 89 GT vs. 98 Cobra

A few hours ago a friend of mine called me up. He was barrowing his friends 98 cobra for the weekend and asked if I'd like to race. We went 3 times from a 20 mph roll, same thing each time. I'd jump out about a car, and very slowly pulled on him, until he hit third and missed it (each time), then it was over. I sat in the car and felt the clutch, it was extremely hard to engaged, plus he's a sucky driver. Anyways it was some good races, and I feel pretty good now. So what your thinks wrong with his clutch, need replacing? Also to my knowledge the car was stock.

There is nothing wrong with the clutch, its heavy duty man. I had people telling me my 97 had a heavy clutch... I didn't really notice but then again I drive a big truck with a manual almost daily.

I'm glad you said 'on' because I was really wondering. I could easily walk a stock or lightly modded 5.0 with that cobra, from a roll.

Do you have a t5 or auto? With your mods and an 80 shot i would think you would walk all over a stock cobra.... try going from a stop and I bet you'd have him by 3+ cars in the 1/4

thats what i'm thinking. when my 89 GT was stock w/ full exhaust, gears, suspension, and drag radials i could go mid 13's 1/4 mile. i've hung w/ a few 4 valve cobra's at the track with no nitrous, no motor work except a 70 mm t-body and pullies and the mods listed above.

Thanks for the replys. My cars an AOD, and I live in Burnet. It's about 55 mile west of Austion. Also it probably would have been a worse beating from a stop.... I hope.
