Probes don't run 140.

Mach351C 07-06-2002 01:10 AM

140kmph LOL

86 Grand Marqui 07-06-2002 11:21 AM

What happened to my post:confused: Maybe that darn probe scooped it up as it went by at 140:mad:

Thinks for the lesson I am sure a mechanical engineering student from purdue, who works for Honda as a engineer could have no way of comprehending such serious calculations!

How are you a street racer  Heres a free lesson (cause I like to help teach young kids) if a street racer says he runs 12.86's then offers to race he does not run 12.86's anymore. I suppose now you will want 76 car lengths?

Fast cars and real money races start at the same time! With maybe the only thing being who gets the move. These give 10-30 cars are like betting on the coin toss instead of the final score of the super bowl. Get real I have never seen more than a car and the move given in a race for over $50. Get REAL!!

I thought you would give up by now. I am glad I am in error. Ok 1 at a time, here we go.1..Use a Handi wipe with a little alcohol to clean the KB.(I was serious about what I typed,however)2.. We are usually so far out in the woods we have plenty of time to do what we wish. We were there for 6 hours 1 night.3.. Makes Sense,I am speaking of Money races,Why win a race for free? Why make him think you are fast? That's the idea,"Make him think you are slow" Then get him:) 4..:D ,,5.."Steal" out the hole has nothing to do about 60'. I am speaking about "Leaving" first. Remember I am speaking about Street Racing, not at the track with lights,"Flag Man" racing is what we call it down here on the street.I know you understand that, you just got confused:) 6.. IF you run what you said, the "Advantage" I stated previous will work, I am speaking Literal, using that time as a base, You could run 10's, then I would need more, I am going by the 12.86.7.."You have not seen that type of race". The VAST majority of Street Racing down here is Not heads-up.ps" The Whole thing boils down to making the other guy think he will win,How you get him to think it, doesn't matter.:)

Kevin Price 07-09-2002 09:18 PM

Geez...you should write a "how to" street racing book dude. Not that anyone would read it with any ounce of sincerity but at least it would give you something to do for awhile. Maybe start your own club even. Just think about it, you could all sit around and dream up these wonderful ideas and try them on each other to see which works best. Once perfected you could spread havoc all over the land with street racing victories, become millionares, and write more books.

I usually don't get involved in this kind of stuff but this is ridiculous.

86 Grand Marqui 07-09-2002 09:41 PM

I have been 100% honest in everything I have typed.I am in fact known as kinda the "Race Guru". I enlighten people on what to Get and Give when Racing.Be that as it may. I have simply responded to posts that were directed my way. I was asked by more than 1 person not to shorten words, so I type it all out and it gets a bit long.I NEVER have used the quote option because that takes up to much space.I still don't understand the big deal. So what if the VAST majority of Races I race and that are raced in this area, are NOT Heads-up?Not my Fault.

Mach351C 07-10-2002 12:58 AM

Wow this is getting a little silly. Say does anyone remember what the thread title was. LOL 93 probe gt how fast. Might need to change that too. How to write a street racing novel. I think everyone is entitled to there own opinion. You can race what ever way you want to. And it doesnt mean that everyone else has to agree with it either.

86 Grand Marqui 07-10-2002 11:27 AM

Thank You. You are 100% correct. Um? I think maybe the Probe messed everything up as it went by at 140.:D

Unit 5302 07-10-2002 12:11 PM

I can't even believe I'm bothering to post. Wonder why I left this board in the first place....

86 Grand Marqui(s) can't even spell the name of the car he has. I'm sure you're known as the "guru" because nobody else living out in the "woods" has any idea what those city rules of street racing are. Apparently, you've single handedly created a joke of street racing in your area.

As for the Probe doing 140, quit bashing the quote. If you want to do a fricken comparison between the aerodynamics of that car, and a Mustang, you might find some almost merit to it. Throw in a speedo that's off a little and voila. 140mph on the speedo, assuming the speedo reads that high.

I have the day off from work so I thought I'd swing through. This is the crap I find. A 34 year old ricer who doesn't know what kind of car he has, is the street racing guru for his area because he invents the rules, has been on the internet a long time so he doesn't type clearly, and a bunch of people with errors in their own typing bitching about guru boy's typing.

How about some real math since I wasted so much of my time reading all this **** (admittedly, my fault).

If 86 Ricer steals (takes the jump on) Sedanman out of the hole, and he's 375ft in front of him, how is the damn race flagged? As soon as Sedanman is able to hear 86 Ricer's car take off (unlikely since it's a 86 Grand Marquis, and I didn't see exhaust listed as a modification, maybe it's just all rusted away to make it loud enough to actually hear)? That would mean Sedanman's R/T + the time it would take for the sound to reach him (we're assuming the standard figure for the speed of sound, not taking into consideration outside factors such as the barometric pressure, humidity, temperature, and CO2 concentrations 331.45 m/s or about 1087 f/s) would be about .35sec + R/T of about .500 (benefit of the doubt). That's a total of .35+.50 = .85sec. How far will 86 Ricer travel in .85sec. Since he borrowed his grandfather's 86 Grand Marquis that pulls a 2.19 60ft time, he'll average about 18mph through the first 60ft. .85 x 18 x 1.5 = about 23ft. So he's really getting another car plus some, and close to a 14mph rolling start. Obviously, the car won't accelerate in a linear fashion, but it decreases the complication of the mathematics involved, and since we are dealing with rather minute time frames here considering it'll take over 16.5sec for 86 Ricer to complete the race, it should be accurate enough.

It's clearly obvious 86 Ricer sticks to the back country street racing because he would get the crap beat out of him showing up with that car and trying to stage a 15 minute race. LOL. The one real question is, how do you pull a 2.19 60ft on dirt roads? Does Farmer Cletus-Bob put down traction compound on the sand?

I think I've satisfied my need to check in for a while...

7up 07-10-2002 12:57 PM

HAHAHAH, glad to have some more of your input Unit, hope you come back again soon.

86 Grand Marqui 07-10-2002 01:39 PM

Ok, 1 at a time,1..Nothing I have has an s at the end of the name,2..I live in the city,we race in the woods,3..I did not start the Probe Thread,4..No idea what"Ricer" means.5..A "Flag Man" Race is a Race with a guy in front of the 2 cars that has his arms up, then drops to start the race, in theory.6..You are correct, I need New exhaust,7..It's My Car,8..I wish I could hit 18 mph in 60'.9..Noone is going to touch me,and it doesnt take but a few minutes to set up the more difficult races,10..:) @the Dirt Road thing.11..Welcome Back.

The Deuce 07-10-2002 03:38 PM

Racing Guru?

I think when they call you the 'Racing Guru' they mean, "The creepy old guy with the POS." Just a thought.

Dude. Listen. You're the math wiz who can figure out the necessary lengths to beat somebody, right?

60ft. 2.19sec. 60/2.19 = 27.40ft/s. That's your average speed. 27.40ft/s = 18.7mph. Do you understand that bunch of VERY VERY simple math? That's your average speed needed to cover 60ft in 2.19sec. Average, meaning since you're accelerating you MUST go faster than 18mph by the end of 60ft, or it's impossible for you to 60ft in 2.19sec. Taking that astute observation made by me into account, and assuming a linear rate of speed increase, you'll be going 0 at 0ft, 18mph at 30ft and 36mph at 60ft. There are obvious flaws in such linear math because the car doesn't accelerate or cover ground in a linear fashion, instead it covers ground at an exponential rate. Meaning accleration would be closer to d = st^x where d = distance, s = a variable t = time and x = variable.

Another thing. Is this your fricken car? Does it have an "s" at the end of Marqui? That's what I thought.

It's Grand Marquis, not Grand Marqui. Dang it. Ricer.

The Deuce 07-10-2002 06:00 PM

Unit, it's good to see you back around and causing trouble. This guy is Florida's biggest PITA. I think we should send Joe down there to investigate this so called racing.

86 Grand Marqui 07-10-2002 09:26 PM

Ok, 1 at a time,,1..34 is not Old:) 2.. It needs Paint, but flawless otherwise,3..No idea what you mean,4..I don't agree, but no biggy,5..My Car does not have an s on the end.If it should, it doesn't:confused: 6.. He's not causing trouble,I don't understand his attitude, however, and I still don't know what "Ricer" means. Noone down here seems to know.

I find it hard to believe that you don't know what ricer means and you claim to be a street racer for 20 years. Who else are you asking, have you looked at any of the threads that have ricer as the subject? They are not hard to find and it is not hard to figure out.

86 Grand Marqui 07-10-2002 11:11 PM

Oh Well.:) And no, I don't really browse the threads. My connection is only 28.8 so I don't browse around that much.I will ask around Sat night, when many are racing, about the Ricer thing. I have looked at some threads and I now know. The "Ricers" down here as you choose to call them,VERY rarely race. They show their cars and play "that" music. We did have a 4cyl that we did race from time to time. A Dune Buggy type with a Volkswagon 2,500(I think) a Holley 850 and a Ray Jay Turbo that made 35 pounds of boost, with a 90 Horse Nitrous Kit.We never made a full pass at the track, but we did race a 10 flat car and gave him 3 and the hit,on the street. After the Malibu rolled a few cars he was right beside him and never looked back. He guesses it went High 8's. He is certain it went at least 125 in the 8th.ps: I know that motor is not a Japanese motor, just using it because it was a 4cyl and not a U.S type.

Unit 5302 07-10-2002 11:39 PM

3) You have no idea what I mean? About what?

4) You disagree with what? 60 / 2.19 = 27.4 or 27.4ft/s = 18.7mph? Or maybe that if you start slower than average, you must travel faster than average to obtain the average? Or that an accelerating car covers distance at an exponential rate? Which mathematical concept do you disagree with? Perhaps you should become a math professor so you can right the wrongs of math for the past few thousand years?

5) I don't care if your car doesn't have an "s" at the end. The fact you don't know what kind of car you drive is a bit ridiculous. Yet you claim to know cars like the back of your hand, and you can even tell how fast they are by listening to them, lol.

A ricer is somebody who tries to talk like they know what they're saying, but they really don't. Normally they are relegated to Honda Civics and the like with huge wings, big stereos, ground effects, slammed suspension, rims, and an exhaust they claim makes their stock 100hp 4 banger into a 250hp Mustang GT killer. The only difference in this case is you're domestic rice with a grandpa car.

I congratulate 86 Grand Marqui, please accept the well deserved award pictured below.

Yeah, I second that. I was going to comment on the being able to know how fast a car was by how it sounded earlier too thing, but I got side tracked by all the other uhmm.. stuff being said too. Thanks for reminding me. So does that mean all the Civics with the bumble bee exaust run atleast 12's? Cause they sound so darn fast?:D
