IT's possible I guess. We'd really have to hear it idle to guess better though.

When I start mine in the mornings, it lopes and lopes until i drive it for a few minutes. sounds killer with long tubes and flowmasters. The cam is stock. The idle smooths out after about 10 minutes.

You mean that when you hold at a higher RPM that the car rocks back and forth? If that's the case, that's not good. Sounds like it is out of balance.

Unless your car has mass air you dont have an over stock cam.

"SPEED DENSITY" and cams dont mix well.

Ah, yet another person knowing very little about speed density engines.

The speed density cars will accept cams, heads, and intakes. I haven't seen him online lately, but 88workcar is running very low 12's N/A with SD. Edelbrock heads, cobra intake, and an E cam. Basically with SD you bump the fuel pressure to compensate for the greater airflow. Tune the car close, and the computer will compensate. SD computers have a hell of a lot more ability to adjust parameters than MAF cars. I've seen SD cars run 24lb injectors, stock, and only have a very slight rev on startup, and a tiny bit of idle surge. Still pass emissions and get well over 25mpg on the road.

A ton of people do some mods, switch to MAF and then say they really wished they would have tried to tune the combo on SD to see if they could get it to work.

wait till engine warms up and check vacuum, if it has a diff cam in it vacuum won't be as high. stock is around 18 or so if vacumm is under 14-15 and you have timing and idle speed right then could be.

That'll depend on where he checks it, since a vacuum leak itself could be causing the lope, lol.

I agree with Unit on this, youi can get pretty aggresive cams to run in a SD motor but you need to be careful with the overlap of the cam, get too much and you'll have problems.
