Default Low 14's

I think the '95 Camaro Lt-1's ran low 14's stock. What does your car run with the mods you have.

Default 14.07

my best run to date with no goofy gas is a 14.02 at 97 mph, thats with bbk pulleys no listed in sig on street tires, ive only ever had 3 passes in the 1/4 so im sure times will dip in the 13s with some sliks and practice although i do have alot of practice on the 8th mile track

Default Lt-1's

When my car ran 13.97, I could beat stock Lt-1 Camaros by a small margin. Maybe 1 car length or so in the 1/4 mile. They ran 14.1-14.3 or something similar.

Modded, some ran 12's and 13's.

Default Cop Car Doesn't Mean It's Fast

Just because a car once was a cop car doesn't mean it's faster than stock, heck it is probably slower because of the extra safety equipment it could have in it, lower gearing for better highway mileage, larger/double radiators, etc, etc. Everyone hears the wacky stories of the local cops who supposedly hop up their cars, but most aren't this way. Florida State Patrol just bought a bunch of Z28's last year, they look great, but man are they loaded down with a ton of equipment in them.

I just tinted 15 of the highway patrol z28's about two weeks ago and they have a lot of crap in them but I do not think they would be that much slower than a stock one with out all the crap in them. I did ask if they hop them up and I was told no.

LT-1's have aluminum heads from the factory. I doubt they are stroked or bored. 99% of all "police interceptor" packages are just different gears and a beefier cooling package.

Did they even make LT1 police interceptor camaros? I have never heard of them using old ones. I know now they have LS1 Camaros and before that they used Fox Bodys. I never heard what they used in between besides the Crown Vics and Caprices of course.

Default chip

im pretty sure they did, i saw a car and driver once and they were talkin about the new interceptors and how it had improved from the old ones, who knows? ive also heard about them having a chip for higher top speeds but not sure about that either i think thats probably bogus because i didnt think they were limited by the computer any how, this guy took me for a ride in his car felt nice it also has a cb in it which said was in there when he got it so it may very well be the real mccoy

pfft, man everyone ask me if my car "still has the chip" just because it was a police car, my car had 3.08 grs and oil cooler, no special parts really, i have seen the 95 z28 police cars, i bet they are slow as the rest of them.

btw, my car is a 5spd, so cops did use manuals in some of there car's.

They have aluminum heads stock. All manual tranny LT1's are 6-speeds, not 5-speeds. The 5-speeds are V6's. They don't have any type of performance exhaust, or anything like that. The LS1 police interceptors are optioned like the ones you could buy. Expect an LT1 auto. to run semi-low 14's, and a 6-speed has the capabilty of higher 13's.

1bad89, sorry to throw you off, we were stateing that not all trooper cars were auto, saying we have 5 spds, meaning some of the police camaros could also be 6spd manuals...

Cool

Depending on the package the car might have upgraded stuff like brakes, suspension, and fluid coolers. Other than that what makes it the Police Interceptor package is the exterior, the lighting system set up, wiring, and the interior. Places to store extra stuff such as gun pockets in the seats, mounts for radios and equipment. Stuff like that. Let alone the vehicle is the stripped down version. No "options" like you'd get on a regular car. For example the Vic may come with power windows and locks but that's because they are standard equipment anyways (no tape deck or CD player). The main thing that determines which vehicle will be used, especially for state, is resale value. That's a big reason the stangs aren't used much anymore. Kansas still has some mustangs but they are late late 90's models (97-98). Missouri uses mainly the Vic and some new Impalas now, too. They quit using the Stang because of resale value and lack of room inside the cockpit.
