Lost AGAIN!
FUUUUUUUUUUCK!! I cant beat this guy! I work for a dealer and I sold my friend a 94 LT1 camaro a while ago. I drove it and found that it was incredibly fast for a stocker. So I called him up and he bought it. Its a ******* auto too. He went to Pomona totaly stock and hit a 14.2 even when he screwed up the 2-3 shift. Dont ask me how you screw up manualy shifting an auto but he did. Since then he has added a cat back only. He still pulls me in 3rd! If I get a really good launch I can take him and he wont reel me in. But most of the time I spin and he beats me by about half a car, and every time we race from a roll he slowly pulls me in third. Im seriously pissed. If these heads an intake dont put me into the low 13's Im taking a sledgehammer to my motor.

The heads and intake will definitely help and your friend's LT1 will be about two to three cars behind you the next time around.
Do you use synthetics in your car? I bet if you added amsoil to your trans and rear and ran Valvoline durablend in the engine you'd have that guy beat already. Just a thought! I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my engine and GM synchromesh in my trans. Thats what Tremec said to use. I hope these heads help a lot since I already have everything needed to make them efficient like a good exhaust, injectors, induction, and gears.

you will blow him away once you install a good set of heads. Your whole combo is screamin' at you for them!
BTW, Some stock cars just run really well. A friend who usually races sportbike took his daily driver TOTALLY stock, down to the paper air filter 94 auto Z28 with 2.73 gears to the track. He was in the high 13's all day with a best of 13.8 @ 100. That is damn quick! ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 11.8 @ 123 (7/14/01) 1992 BadAzz Wrangler 1993 Explorer |

Yeah, I really think that this cam is too large for unported heads because it falls off up top. Low end torque on my car is great but up top it lags.
Im pretty sure that he could have hit a 14 flat stock. I cant beat him unless I get a perfect launch on my DR's. ------------------ 95GT B303 cam, 1.7 rockers, 65mm TB, milled heads, 355's K&N, BBK Longtubes, Flowmaster cat back, pulleys, msd coil, 9mm wires, Tremec 3550, Pro5.0 shifter,10.5 Motorsport clutch, FMS aluminum driveshaft, weld in subframe connectors |

If you had the exhaust side ported you would see that cam work some top end magic. I love that B303. I had it set up with ported and milled truck 302 heads for awhile but with your TF heads you might even do better with a more radical cam once you get it all dialed in.

So he has a quick stock LT1. Your motor combo is going to be similar to mine. So lemme remind you of a race I had with a 93 Auto LT1 a while back.
His car has a cage, stall, 3.73s, full exhaust, and throttle body. its a Brand new LT1. I raced him on street tires. He pulled me out of the hole sooo bad. By 2nd gear he had about 3-4 car lengths on me. and I was still roasting them bad through 2nd gear. (I mean fishtailing and smoking). I finally hit 3rd behing a full 4 car lengths back and caught traction. I was still worried I wouldnt catch him. I was pulling hard in 3rd. I powershiftd 4th and was at his back bumper. I held it through 4th pulled right past him and put about 2.5 car lengths on him to the end. He was shocked afterwards. He said "I thought I smoked you then I look by my window and you fly by like I'm sitting still! So don't worry... LT1's wont be a problem soon. Let me tell you, I am going to keep posted to this topic, for I have been in a similair situation! We have a somewhat close setup besides weight, cam, etc. But I am waiting for some aluminum GT-40Y heads as we speak to arrive at my door. I was beaten pretty badly from a kid in a 97 z28 with an auto not too long ago and he is supposedly stock. He is a cocky lil f&*@#er and worst of all, he was doing my ex girl for a while, so this is all like a testosterone test to him. A test I want to win.. Since then he too has installed a cat-back which doesnt worry me much. I have only raced this guy from 2nd to 4th so I can prolly beat him from a start since he "needs" to win. People this anxious always screw up, I'm sure everyone here knows what I mean. But yes, I'm sure you'll beat him. In fact you have a better chance of beating him than me beating this other guy over here, but remember, yes we can make our cars faster. But so can he.

The B cam and 1.7's add up to a big cam. You've got .514 lift and 224* of duration. I don't care how wigged the stock heads are, they will never show the potential in that cam setup.
I hate to say this, but I didn't see you listing an intake, the stocker is going to restrict the hell out of you still. If you don't have one, pick up an Explorer intake for a couple hundred on Ebay. You will annihilate him once you add that. I'm talking not even funny. "Pick your mph!" LOL |
